🚨 Breaking: #PeteButtigieg donated to an anti-LGBT marriage equality candidate per 2012 FEC filings.

Pete’s donation came at a crucial time in the fight for marriage equality.

🎥: #MayorPete-funded candidate Joe Donnelly reiterating his anti-equality position during a debate.
Per the FEC report, the “Donnelly for Indiana” campaign recorded a $409 donation on September 17, 2012 from #PeteButtigieg “Mayor” employed by the “City of South Bend.”

Joe Donnelly campaigned on anti-marriage equality even as the issue gained more support under President Obama.
#PeteButtigieg’s September 17, 2012 donation to an anti-marriage equality candidate needs to be seen in the context of the 2012 push for #MarriageEquality:

On May 9, 2012, Barack Obama told ABC News, “I think same sex couples should be able to get married.”
On May 10, 2012 (the next day), Joe Donnelly, through his “Donnelly for Indiana” campaign, released a statement countering President Obama:

“Joe believes marriage is between a man and a women. He believes it is an issue each state should decide...”

@wtiu’s IN Focus program reported “when President Obama announced his support for same sex marriage last month many gay rights activists saw the move as a big step forward.”
At the 2012 Indiana Democratic Convention the state party came out against amending the state constitution to define marriage, but Joe Donnelly broke with his party and Predident Obama and “expressed support of a constitutional amendment” denying marriage to same sex couples.
As reported above:

“While Indiana already bans gay marriage by state statute, a constitutional amendment would make the law harder to overturn.”

All 2012, Joe Donnelly campaigned on denying marriage equality.

#PeteButtigieg backed him, donating $409 to his anti-LGBT campaign.
At his final, big media event of his 2012 campaign (the final US Senatorial Debate) #MayorPete-backed Joe Donnelly stated:

“In regards to same-sex marriage, I believe marriage is between a man and a women.”
#PeteForAmerica has issued campaign flyers, posters, shirts, etc. capitalizing on 🏳️‍🌈 imagery. Do voters know that he once backed an anti-LGBT marriage equality candidate...not that long ago?
#PeteButtigieg-funded Joe Donnelly was one of the last Democratic Senators to back marriage equality.
Pete Buttigieg-backed Joe Donnelly was always a conservative Democrat. In 2012, at the senatorial debate, he boasted of his fiscal responsibility and supporting the #keystonepipeline.
In 2018, he ran an ad as a Democrat supporting Trump’s border wall, defending ICE, and warning of “socialized medicine,” while quoting Ronald Reagan.
#MayorPete supported Joe and partnered with him recently too.

“Joe’s the hired help for Indiana’s veterans, and we know he’ll never stop fighting for us, as long as we can keep him in the Senate come November.” - #PeteButtigieg joeforindiana.com/updates/mayor-…
#PeteButtigieg stans:

1) We hate this thread.

2) Donating to an anti-LGBT right Dem is ok if you are a Dem.

3) Whoa! Are you pro-Murdoch? Murdoch was so bad...so it is ok to give money to anti-LGBT rights candidates.

4) How dare you question Pete’s recent giving history.
And give me a break... (your anti-LGBT rights but a hero because he’s a dem) Joe Donnelly didn’t barely win his 2012 election due to Pete Buttigieg’s $409 donation.

Pete chose to donate to him knowing Donnelly’s position. That is part of Pete’s record.
