Joe Biden will again politicize coronavirus today. But his record on pandemics is one of incompetence.

During the 2009 swine flu outbreak, Biden made reckless comments unsupported by science & the experts.

The Obama Admin had to clean up his mess & apologize for his ineptitude.

THREAD: Today @CNN repeatedly featured a total lie on screen, pushing the repeatedly debunked false claim that President Trump called the coronavirus a "hoax."

This is a shocking, inexcusable, deliberate effort by @CNNPR to mislead Americans and spread misinformation.
What @CNN did today is not sloppiness or poor journalism – it is intentional malice and deception, and simply more evidence that the "news" channel is the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party.

At least 6 entities have debunked the false claim @CNNPR is still spreading:
1⃣ The Washington Post: "The full quote shows Trump is criticizing Democratic talking points and the media’s coverage of his administration’s response to coronavirus. He never says that the virus itself is a hoax[.]" (3/13/20)

Had Obamacare/ACA, which required insurers to cover pre-existing conditions, been the law when 2009 “swine flu” hit, US death toll would’ve been far reduced, as people with underlying diseases/medical conditions would’ve sought treatment and softened the impact of the “swine flu”
2. If US escapes with a “low death toll” due to this coronavirus, Trump can thank Obamacare/ACA (which he wanted to repeal in full) for helping people with underlying diseases and get treatment over the last decade. US is now much better prepared vs pre-Obamacare era.
3. US uninsured rate:

During 2009 “swine flu” outbreak which killed 12,000 in US: 20%

During 2019-2020 COVID-19 outbreak: 14% (uninsured rate went up under Trump, as 1.2 million more people are uninsured vs 2016).

Will coronavirus compel more people to buy health insurance?

Swine flu killed 12,469 people in the US from mid 2009 to mid 2010. Do you recall market meltdowns and OMG coverage of it daily? I don't. Globally a few hundred thousand people died. 2009 was the start of an economic recovery yet now we are potentially having an economic plunge.
Swine Flu killed on average 34 people a day from April 2009 to April 2010 per the CDC. Basically, three days of Swine Flu had more DEATHS than the total current #CoronaVirus cases in the US. Can Corona get worse than current levels? Sure but it is not anywhere close to it.
Coronavirus is not anywhere close to Swine Flu levels so I am not sure why people are spreading panic about it. Even if it reaches those levels, there was no OMG WE ARE DYING tone in mid 2009 during Swine. The economy in fact got out of a recession mid 2009 despite Swine Flu!
