45 FDNY members (firefighters, EMS and civilians) tested positive for #COVID19.

My heart aches for Christell and her loved ones, as well as for these other #FDNY heroes.

All first responders should be tested EVERY DAY for #coronavirus, because they're at HIGH RISK of being infected.

They should also be screened for protective antibodies (prior #COVID19).
We need to protect our brave first responders by quickly identifying/isolating those who are infected with the #coronavirus. This will also help to protect other staff and patients from getting #COVID19.

As I warned way in January, do NOT believe the number of #coronavirus cases and deaths reported by #China (real numbers are FAR higher).

Instead, look at China's ACTIONS. If they had 3,292 deaths, why did they build *two 1,000-bed hospitals* in a matter of days⁉️

🚨BREAKING: *preliminary* data show potential benefit of convalescent plasma containing #coronavirus antibodies (from recovered #COVID19 patients) for the treatment of critically ill patients.

Same approach was used for H1N1 and Spanish Flu.

Larger study needed to confirm.🤞🏼
Although convalescent plasma is “old school,” it has a good chance of success for #COVID19.

Convalescent plasma decreased the severity of symptoms/shortened hospital stay for #SARS; preliminary reports from #China suggest it may work for #coronavirus.😃

Convalescent plasma is collected from patients who've recovered from #COVID19 and is rich in antibodies to #coronavirus, essentially immunizing a sick patient with another person's antibodies.

More patients / data needed, but this is encouraging news.😃

The US has >1,500 deaths and has NOT locked down.

New York and Catalonia (#Spain) have the fastest rise in #COVID19 deaths. #Louisiana (New Orleans) and south #Florida are emerging as new #coronavirus "hot zones," surpassing #WA.

#CA has relatively little testing but is also seeing a surge in deaths.

⚠️#Coronavirus cases in the U.S. are now higher than *any* other country at the same point in its outbreak, with new cases DOUBLING nearly *every 2 days*.

Surfaces can be disinfected.
