*PUT YOUR PAWS IN THE AIR FOR THIS REAL LIFE HERO!!!*
Last week my friend’s @RamboTeaches brother was in a terrible crash in his semi. When the ambulance came to get him they found his puppy and travel companion, Bruno. (1/5) Image
Bruno rode in the ambulance - his dad went into surgery then Bruno had to go to a shelter. He was scared and far from home! 🥺 Luckily, a hero came forward. Nurse Janis Koren graciously offered to take Bruno until things could get sorted out. (2/5) Image
She opened her heart and her home to help a stranger. She took Bruno knowing he isn’t even fully potty trained! 💦 She thoughtfully sent pictures and updates to worried friends back home. (3/5)

Unpopular opinion incoming, but I think it gets to the heart of what’s happening here. I was always fascinated by the culture of self-deprecation that seems to be commonplace in the US. I was taught growing up to speak WORDS OF LIFE over myself, NOT words of hurt. 1/7
In the US, I’ve found that SOME people refer to themselves in the MOST demeaning ways. &Trust me,I get it, but only to a certain extent. You are “taking back your power, controlling the narrative, & all these things.” But it still somehow never quite sat right with my spirit. 2/7
I’d literally CRINGE when my friends in college would call themselves “fat,ugly,lazy..” ALL the things. Even if they’d pass it off in a joking way. It would STILL make me cringe. The point here is, the WORDS that we SPEAK over OURSELVES matter. It might not SEEM that way.. 3/7

I'd like to reinforce in English the observations Bishop @silviojbaez made yesterday in his homily concerning the practice of Gospel values by public servants. This may be of interest to @CarmeliteNick @CatholicForLife and many of our #CatholicTwitter followers.
THREAD 1/13
Bishop @silviojbaez preaching: "Christian love has a social and political dimension. We love when we design & organize social life in such a way that no one suffers misery and no one is excluded; so that unjust suffering is eliminated & human rights are respected..."
2/13
"...For this reason, it's regrettable that there are political leaders who, in comfortable rooms, engage in ideological discussions and party strategies..."

N.B. #Nicaragua will have general elections this fall. If opposition parties don't unify, dictator Ortega wins

Morning! it's Snouty Saturday! 🐽

One of the #53pigs having a lazy morning in his special piggy barn.

He's safe, loved, warm and cosy which is simply what we all need and want. No matter what species we are.

This little guy was just a piglet when 👇
globalvegancrowdfunder.org/pigoneer-2000-…
he was seized from the illegal slaughterhouse at Bramble Hall Farm.

He then spent the first 9 months of his life in a Defra Isolation Unit under a court disease destruction order.

But after a legal battle he was allowed to come and live here at the sanctuary along with 👇
all the other #53pigs and #53piglets under a special disease restriction license.

We have nearly 100 pigs at the sanctuary. And like many we have had a very difficult year.

Please help us to create a safe, reliable feed fund to help pay the £1000 per week pig feed costs 👇

It's Nelson 🐷

Nelson is one of our very big & beautiful boars. He's a few metres long & around a metre high.

Most pigs will never make it to Nelson's size. Commercial, large breed pigs are often very poorly bred & often inbred. They are not bred for longevity 👇
Their lives only designed to be short lived before slaughter or just a few years of breeding & then they are past their best.

It's a cruel & ruthless world to be born into.

And in such a twist of fate the only reason that Nelson is alive today is because he was 👇
Seized from starvation at an illegal slaughterhouse.

Who knows what life we will land.

Can you imagine being born into a cold, harsh environment in a factory farm, where your life purpose is to be violently slaughtered.

We have nearly 100 pigs here at the sanctuary 👇

Dogs are Haram’ - There were times when I was reprimanded by my friends for patting a dog’s forehead & they still do. ‘It’s just a pat! And They’re created by the same God who created you’ was my reply to their disapproving stares or atleast that’s what
I convinced my little self. It was not until recently I stumbled upon an article which spoke about Muslims hurling stones & killing dogs because they consider it ‘unhygienic’ & then there’s some Muslims who approach the veterinary doc just to have the dogs
killed with lethal injections! The sole reason for this is the half-baked knowledge they possess. If we’re to look at Quran, we’re bound to learn that Dogs were companions of Humans.

Hi God.
It's me. Kuno.
I know there's lots of going on in the world and you're hearing lots of complaints. Today I want to say Thank You.
1 year ago me n my mentordog Roxy were put in the bedroom and listened as strangers came and took our mistress away in an ambulance.
#faith
I didn't understand what was going on, I just knew it was bad. Mistress's daughter came and stayed with us a long time. Many many moons.
A few times she would take Roxy dog with her, and when they came home I could smell mistress on Roxy and took comfort knowing she was ok.
Finally, after 40 days, I got to go with Roxy and we waited in a courtyard at the hospital. I FINALLY got to see my person ❤!!! But things had changed. She couldn't stand up and come to me. She stayed in a funny chair and was missing most of her legs.

1/9 So how do we know we are testing enough? One way is to monitor the % of positive tests among all of the #COVID19 tests conducted over the course of a week.
2/9 A high % positive, indicates that we may not be testing enough to detect all the cases. We want to cast our net wide around where the virus is spreading.
3/9 We aim for a low percentage positive, below 10%, which is an international benchmark. This indicates we are casting our net wide enough to capture any cases that may be occurring in the area.

3/5 This is even more important because some people may not be able to wear a face covering safely, including people who may be at risk of severe outcomes from #COVID19. #ProtecttheVulnerable #HelpOthers #DontJudge

The global south has lessons for the global north on how to respond to a crisis.
1. Don’t panic, cooperate. Be a good neighbor, Co worker, and friend. Carry out random acts of kindness. Make your first response a positive, helpful one. Offer solutions not problems. 1/
2. Practice good digital citizenship. In a time of crisis, real or imagined, panic is the real enemy. Don’t spread rumors, unverified reports, or speculation. Don’t escalate or play out worst case scenarios. Instead, post helpful resources, encouragement, and gratitude. 2/
3. Don’t undermine policies designed to keep people safe. Show support and compassion for leaders who face making incredibly tough decisions without a rule book to guide them (and lots of bureaucracy to tie their hands). 3/
