1/ Way back in 2014-2015 our small group coalesced together following chats online and in pubs. A small band of political nerds who believed that 1. UK would be better off out of the EU, especially given its direction of travel. 2. The best way to achieve that exit was via Efta.
2. Some of us wanted to go down the Swiss route🇨🇭, others the Iceland model 🇮🇸; some wanted to use efta as a transitional model while we leave the eu, others wanted the UK to stay in it for the long term.
3/ we were inspired by the authoritative @RichardAENorth and his work, and the persuasive and confident language of Daniel Hannan MEP who wrote: 
4/ when the UK did vote to leave the EU we expected that our views would be in high demand in the media; that has never really happened, with a few notable exceptions. We expected MPs to champion our cause, which hasn't really happened.
5/ While some MPs have been receptive to our ideas, none has to our knowledge mentioned us in Hansard or offered to become a patron.
6/ we have nearly 4000 twitter followers which isn't bad for a niche political campaign with organic growth, but we expected it to be much higher by now. Imagine if we got mentioned at PMQs - the follower count would probably jump a thousand in one day.
7/ We also thought after the referendum that we would start getting financial backers. We didn't create EFTA4UK as a moneymaking scheme, in fact it has cost everyone involved time and money.
8/ we thought that those companies who stand to lose money if we get a hard brexit would be happy to donate to us. Then we could rent offices near Parliament, do a weekly podcast, get t-shirts and mugs printed, pop up on the Daily Politics and Marr etc. It's never happened.
9/ but we will keep plodding along, because it's the right thing to do. Part of us wants the likes of Boris Johnson to have to explain why their hard Brexit has turned out so catastrophically, but they would just blame the EU or saboteurs anyway.
