Whether you’re Vice President Mike Pence or a gubernatorial hopeful in Mississippi, when you say you won’t be alone with a woman you are essentially saying you don’t trust yourself to be around women. You are a dangerous misogynist and should not be in office/running for office.
The insistence that a female reporter be accompanied by a male colleague comes from a heteronormative, patriarchal belief that women you are not married to are uncontrollable, disruptive, bring chaos. And you are admitting you don’t trust yourself around women. Dangerous!
Pence and the two gubernatorial candidates in Mississippi and other white Evangelicals who so proudly refuse to be alone with women are disciples of Billy Graham and most likely Islamophobes. They should know they also follow a hadith of Prophet Mohamed: 👇🏽
