I have spent half my morning fighting for a heart medication I have been on since I was 22 because chronically ill people are expected to do battle with insurance companies and #BigPharma every day so CEOs can spend their summers in the Hamptons.
Fix this, America.
Pharmacuetical companies should not be allowed to jack up prices on drugs that have been around for decades and/or create fake scarcity just to pad their top executives' incomes.

Do not delude yourselves that this money is going to R & D-- it's not.
We aren't getting new and better drugs, we are getting renaming of old established drugs. This bait and switch is killing sick people.

No one wants a chronic illness. It can derail your life. The additional stress of fighting for care is a crime against humanity, pure & simple.
If you're considering voting for someone who is NOT for #M4A, ask yourself why you are willing to sacrifice people you love to some GOP talking point about "socialism" rather than demand what everyone in America should have: affordable care.
Those are my #FridayThoughts and living till November 2020 to vote out this corrupt administration that has made it so much harder to be sick in America is my #FridayMotivation.

I've always maintained that after #SandyHook America said guns mattered more than kids. 20 1st graders were murdered in their classroom & the US didn't pass a single law to stop it from ever happening again.

#M4A won't overturn the #ACA, which is a law regulating insurance. It is not insurance. It regulates #Medicare plans as well as #Medicaid. The ACA protects people with #preexistingconditions & protects women, because being female was a pre-existing condition before the #ACA.
It's been nine years since the #ACA became law and even the person who was VP when that happened still doesn't know what it is and what it does.
The ACA saved lives by giving people access to health insurance. It saved my life. It will not be ended by #M4A. Only by the #GOP.
There is no reason to pit #M4A against the #ACA because they are apples and orangutans. The ACA made affordable healthcare accessible, but IS NOT INSURANCE. Private insurance won't end with any #M4A plan. ACA governs Medicare as well. So it needs to be maintained & strengthened.

In writing about the debates today, I was in part focusing on how much candidates spoke.
Biden spoke most: 21.2 mins.--even longer than last time.
Warren was 17.9, Harris 17.7 and Bernie 17.6. Nearly an hour and a half of the overall time was spoken for by these frontrunners.

The difference of 4mins more time from Biden is nearly a quarter of what the other top three contenders spoke, as they are all tied within a few seconds. It's especially significant for Harris, who was challenged repeatedly and got 4mins less time to rebut than Biden. Telling.

On Tuesday, Warren and Sanders were basically a team. And their nearest polling rival, Buttigieg, is in agreement with them on many issues and for the most part wasn't fighting them. So his 14.4 mins was spent mostly on his own plans and history.

Hey people who think that accessibility is only for disability-related events: #thread
1. I spent this week at a conference about the history and philosophy of biology. It was not a disability studies conference. There was nothing about the topic we were discussing that seemed to be explicitly about disability. And guess what? They rocked at accessibility.
2. The meeting room, cafeteria, and rooms where we stayed were all in the same building, which was wheelchair accessible, had non-LED lighting, lots of good natural light, etc.

I had an experience today that kind of sent me over the edge in terms of what costs chronically ill people are expected to shoulder. (Yes, I'm talking about US healthcare. No, I don't want your "just move to Canada/France/wherever!" suggestions.)
