Fine to call out Tulsi's support for Modi, but @mehdirhasan's claim of her "very dodgy ties" to Assad is a cheap-shot. She met Assad -- whom she's called a "brutal dictator" -- as part of a trip to stop a proxy war that Mehdi claims to oppose. How is that dodgy? via @democracynow
@mehdirhasan @democracynow This is the kind of slime-tactic in the tradition of McCarthyite smears we've seen just this week from the NYT () and CNN (newsweek.com/tulsi-gabbard-…). Here is full DN segment: (democracynow.org/2019/10/16/dem…)
@mehdirhasan @democracynow Tulsi in 2016: "There is no doubt that Assad is a brutal dictator." votetulsi.com/node/25114
@mehdirhasan @democracynow It's especially important to call out this kind of talk from self-described adversarial leftists. When they parrot disingenuous mainstream narratives that are used to silence critics of US foreign policy, they help reinforce the narrow spectrum of permissible debate.
