A quick refresher about Trump-Lavrov.

Trump met Russia foreign minister Lavrov in the Oval Office on May 10, 2017, the day after he fired FBI James Comey. Trump exulted to the Russians that the FBI pressure upon him had been "taken off." 1/n
5 days after the Trump-Lavrov meeting, the Washington Post reported:Trump had revealed to the Russians classified info "so sensitive that details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted even within the U.S. government" washingtonpost.com/world/national… 2/n
Trump White House efforts to deny the WashPo story were immediately sabotaged by Trump himself, who confirmed the story on Twitter early on the morning of May 16, 2017 3/n
So, instead, later on the morning of May 16, National Security Director HR McMaster stepped forward to minimize the disaster. He described Trump's actions as "wholly appropriate" and insisted that Trump had

Later that same day, May 16, then Press Secretary Sean Spicer blasted the media ... for reporting on Trump's blabbing. Spicer denounced the reporting on Trump's blurt as "frankly dangerous" and "extremely troubling" 5/n politico.com/story/2017/05/…

The CIA was alarmed not only by Trump's Oval Office blurts on May 15, 2017, but also- and maybe even more - by his no-witnesses meeting with Vladimir Putin in Hamburg in July 2017. That's the meeting where Trump afterward seized and destroyed the translator's notes 7/n
Pro-Trump media now distort the Horowitz report to misrepresent Trump and the stumblebum Carter Page as victims of overzealous investigators. But in office, Trump as president has more than confirmed that he cannot be trusted to protect the US interest on Russia matters 8/n
How much of Trump's animus vs Ukraine can be traced to the July 2017 secret talk with Putin? Trump's own staff don't know. To this day, Trump's financial ties to Russia remain undisclosed. It does not seem that Mueller investigated them either. 9/n
The FISA story now being woof-woofed by Trump and the pro-Trump media is only the latest attempt to lead Americans off the trail into the thickets. Lavrov's return to the Oval Office today amid the Ukraine impeachment IS the trail - and that's what should be pursued. 10/10
