2/ It's less than 38 MONTHS to another election cycle and change of leadership baton in Nigeria. At the time of this THREAD (Monday, February 17, 2020), Nigerians, particularly, the youths, comprising a 51.1% of 84million Registered Voters, seem to be still sleeping.
3/ Nigerian youths are unfortunately still sinking in the 2015 Electioneering Fever of #Jonathanism, #Buharism, #PDPism, #APCism and any other #ism you can add.
4/ With less than 38 months to May 29, 2023, it has become imperative to remind Nigerian Youths that Prez. @MBuhari, whom is today adjudged as the cause of all that is wrong with Nigeria, will be bading over 18. million Nigerians, GOOD BYE, from Nigeria's political firmament.
5/ @MBuhari isn't just exiting Nig's political firmament, in 2023, but he may be the LAST SCION of the SILENT GENERATION (alias the 60s BOYS- age 73-93), to steer Nigeria's ship. Those alive, Gen Gowon, OBJ, Danjuma, IBB, Buhari, & even Abdusalami aren't coming back. ARE THEY?
6/ Having said that, calling out Prez. @MBuhari from now till he exits in 2023, without proposing concrete structural changes, will never FIX Nigeria's chronic problems. Given @MBuhari's age and military background, do you think he gives so much HOOT about Nigeria's future?
7/ At @MBuhari's age, ECCLESIASTES 12:1-5 explains how weak he should be. Former Gov. Kashim Shettima of Borno State, in a recent interview published last month, disclosed to Nigerians, how OLD and WEAK, Prez. @MBuhari is. But Nigerians never got a grasp of Shettima's words.
8/ "When Buhari assumed mantle of leadership, again, expectations from Nigerians were OVER-EXERGERATED. Sometimes, I feel Buhari came ahead of his time. He ought to be President 50years ago because some of the things that people see as his weaknesses are his major strength...”
9/ The First Lady, @aishambuhari and more recently, the National Security Adviser, #BabaganaMonguno, have cried foul, over the hijack of @MBuhari's administration by some Villa hawks. Yet, Nigerians, particularly, the youths still hope on @MBuhari to FIX Nigeria before 2023?
10/ Nig 'll be 60 on October 1, 2020. By May 29, 2020, Nig will mark 21 years of uninterrupted civilian rule. I beg your pardon, (NOT DEMOCRACY). SO FAR, HOW WELL? Fact remains, gift @MBuhari a life time Presidency, as some court jesters suggest, Nigeria won't be FIXED.
11/ I stopped bothering my head over @MBuhari, his administration's uncountable flip-flops, and even his endless junketings across the globe, because a man who has beaten OBJ as Nigeria's longest serving ruler, has nothing to struggle for in life, again, 'll behave like @MBuhari.
12/ With over 38 months left for @MBuhari to exit Nigeria's political firmament for retirement, no matter how Nigerians WAIL, the septugenarian won't stop junketing the globe. 'Baba' has more travels to embark on, even if Nig BOILS in insecurity and degenerated living standards.
13/ Since the 1920s, the struggles for #ABetterNigeria have been won TWICE- (1920-1960); (1983-1999). Given Nigeria's CHRONIC PROBLEMS, today, I enjoin the Millennials (24-38 years); Xennials (33-43 years), & Generation Z (18-23 years), to RISE NOW and DEMAND for #ABetterNigeria.
14/ THE INDEPENDENT STRUGGLE: Between 1920-1960, the struggles for #ABetterNigeria was fought & won, on the pages of newspapers. Eminent Nigerian politicians & newspapermen, who fought for Nigeria's Independence from Great Britain include but not limited to: Herbert Macaulay...
15/ Nnamdi Azikiwe; Obafemi Awolowo; Tafawa Balewa; Ahmadu Bello; S.I. Akintola; Babatunde Jose; Ernest Ikoli; Sapara Williams; Michael Imoudu; Mokwugo Okoye; Aja Nwachukwu; Matthew Mbu; K.O. Mbadiwe; Mbazulike Amaechi; Festus Okotie-Eboh; J.M. Johnson; Kola Balaogun...
16/ Alvan Ikoku; Ayo Rosiji; Nwafor Orizu; Muhammadu Ribadu; Zanna Bukar Dipcharima; Adegoke Adelabu; Inuwa Wada; Jaja Wachukwu; Taslim Olawale Elias; Maitama Sule; Shehu Shagari; Olu Akinfosile; Usman Sarki; T.O.S. Benson; Waziri Ibrahim; Yisa Yar'Adua; Augustus Akinloye...
17/ Adeniran Ogunsanya; Adeleke Adedoyin; Richard Akinjide; Alade Lamuye; Moses Mejekodunmi; Jacob Obande; and not excluding the three POWERFUL AMAZONS- Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti; Hajia Gambo Sawaba; Margaret Ekpo among many others.
18/ Special mention must be made of Chief Anthony Enahoro, Nigeria’s foremost anti-colonial, pro-democracy activist. In 1953, he became the first to move the motion for Nigeria’s independence. It was not until 1958, that Chief Remi Fani-Kayode's motion became successful.
19/ DEMOCRACY STRUGGLE: Between December 31, 1983, when Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, sacked the civilian administration of President Shehu Shagari, many eminent Nigerians, including politicians, academics, rights activists, et al, fought for return of CIVIL RULE on May 29, 1999.
20/ 1983-1999 was the SECOND STRUGGLE, many eminent Nigerians embarked upon for #ABetterNigeria. These eminent Nigerians included but not limited to: Festus Iyayi; Toye Olorode; Idowu Awopteu; Patrick Wilmot; Gani Fawehinmi; Chima Ubani; Bamidele Aturu; Olisa Agbakogba...
21/ Emma Ezeazu; Salihu Lukman; Abayomi Ferreira; Uche Onyeagocha; Bola Tinubu; Ameh Ebute; Mark Nwulu; Olusegun Osoba; O.A. Okoroafor; Polycarp Nwite; Jonah Jang; Dan Suleiman; Beko Ransome-Kuti; Fela Kuti; Ndubuisi Kanu; Ebitu Ukiwe; Chukwuemeka Ezeife; Pat Utomi...
22/ Alison Maduekwe; Joe Igbokwe; Kayode Fayemi; Shehu Sanni; Labaran Maku; Chris Anyanwu; Richard Akinnola; Jenkins Alumona; Henry Ugbolue; Sam Mbakwe; Clement Nwankwo; Charles Obi; George Mbah; Arthur Nwankwo; Ralph Obioha; Udenta Udenta; Chris Nwankwo; Jacob Nwokolo, et al.
23/ The list of Nigeria's pro-democracy heroes won't be complete without the mention of @DeleMomodu; @AbdulMahmud01, @ogundamisi, @YeleSowore, among others. They were also in the struggle, challenging the military for the restoration of the June 12, 1993 Mandate of MKO Abiola.
24/ A critical peep into the TWO successful STRUGGLES for #ABetterNigeria, embarked upon by the above-mentioned Nigerians- NATIONALISTS (1920-1960); PRO-DEMOCRACY ACTIVISTS (1983-1999), points that such progressive movements are LACKING today, among Nigerian Youths.
25/ Since 2015, Nigeria's internal security architecture has continued to TANK. Her six geo-political zones 've become safe havens for murderous bandits. General living standards of Nigerians 've continued to TANK. But Nig youths bother themselves with Jonathanism or Buharism.
26/ HOW NIGERIA'S INDEPENDENCE WAS POSSIBLE? With a NEW CONSTITUTION in 1922, in 1923, Herbert Macaulay formed Nigeria's first political party, Nigerian National Democratic Party (NNDP), whose motto was salus populi suprema lex (the safety of the people is the greatest law).
27/ Macaulay's NNDP's IDEOLOGICAL FOCUS was a Universal Compulsory Education for all Nigerians. Whereas, Azikiwe's National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) had an IDEOLOGICAL FOCUS for Nigeria's Independence from Great Britain.
28/ When Macaulay's NNDP lost grip of Lagos in 1938, he saw prospects in Azikiwe’s NCNC’s struggle for Nig's independence. At 80, in August 1944, Macaulay, against all odds, reached a merger deal with Zik. In May 1946, Macaulay died of rheumatism, suffered during a Kano tour.
29/ It is instructive to note that during the STRUGGLE for Nigeria's Independence (1920s-1960), Macaulay, Azikiwe, Awolowo, Balewa, Bello, et al, put behind them, their ethno-religious and political differences for ONE CAUSE- Nigeria's Independence from Great Britain.
30/ It's instructive to note that during the STRUGGLE for return to Civil Rule in Nigeria (1983-1999), Iyayi, Osoba, Tinubu, Agbakogba, Ubani, Aturu, Utomi, Fayemi, Maku, Sanni, Momodu, Ezeife, et al, jettisoned their ethno-religious or partisan differences to fight the military.
31/ These pro-democracy heroes, on May 15, 1994, jettisoned their differences to form the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO). Their ONE CAUSE was calling on the military dictator, Late Gen. Sani Abacha to step down for MKO Abiola, winner of the June 12, 1993 election.
32/ Nonetheless, many of these 1983-1999 pro-democracy heroes have become today's hawks within Nigeria's corridors of power, clogging the country's wheels of progress. Needless mentioning names. Nigerians know them by their fruits, today.
33/ Amidst Nigeria's CHRONIC Problems, I dare ask, is it a ROCKET SCIENCE to have a:

1. Restructured Nigeria?
2. Brand New People's Constitution?
3. Decentralised Police?
4. Devolution of Excess Power from the 68-line Items in the Exclusive Legislative List?...
34/ 5. Renegotiation of current skewed Revenue Sharing Formular?
6. Downward Review of Politicians' Bogus Emoluments?
7. Compulsory Decennial Census?
8. One Database to identify all Nigerians with just the FIRST NAME, LAST NAME, DATE OF BIRTH & SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER?
35/ 9. An Egalitarian Nigerian Society?
10. Strong Public Institutions and Separation of Powers?
11. Rule of Law and Respect for Human Rights?
12. Strong Legal Teeth against Grafts?
13. Electoral Reforms and Independent Electoral Umpires to Conduct Credible Elections?
36/ WAY OUT: Ahead of 2023, all Nigerian Youths, who are proponents of #EndPoliceBrutality, #EndSARS #RevolutionNow, #ElectoralReforms, #FixPoliticsNG, #RestructureNigeriaNow, MUST jettison their ethno-religious & partisan differences to FORM a COALITION towards #ABetterNigeria.
37/ The KEY focus for this COALITION of pro- #RestructureNigeriaNow advocates should be to FORCE STRUCTURAL & INSTITUTIONAL CHANGES on Nigeria's ruling elites at the Executive, Legislature & Judiciary branches of government, as well as across the three tiers- FG, States & LGAs.
38/ To achieve this, the root of this COALITION MUST spread across Nigeria's 774 LGAs. If this COALITION, has in its membership, at least 20 Patriotic Nigerian Youths across 774 LGAs, that is 15, 480 Disciples working towards #ABetterNigeria.
39/ END OF THREAD- If just a paltry 15,480 of Nigeria's over 42million Youths, STRATEGICALLY, STORM @nassnigeria, Aso Villa, 36 States Government Houses & State Assemblies, with JUST ONE DEMAND- #RestructureNigeria, won't that send SHIVERS down the spines of Nig's RULING CLASS?
