I'm a founder of a mental health company (@ShineText) and want to share more about the unprecedented mental health crisis we’re seeing right now because of #coronavirus. (1/13)
In the U.S., the @MentalHealthAm is already seeing a 19% increase in anxiety screenings, with over 45% of people reporting severe anxiety right now. (2/13)
Suicide hotlines like @CrisisTextLine are seeing at least a 10x spike in people texting in with the word “virus.” (3/13)
And not surprisingly, "self-care" spiked to an all-time high just LAST WEEK in google trends. (4/13)
There’s *no question* that this is COVID-19 related. A recent Chinese Psychology Society survey found that 42.6% of 18,000 Chinese citizens tested positive for having anxiety related to the coronavirus epidemic (4/13)
PLUS: on top of how overwhelming the news is, you just *can’t google this stuff yet*. People have mental questions uniquely impacted by this climate that have never been asked/answered before. (5/13)
To help support our community (and you….and us...) we partnered with MHA and created virusanxiety.com —to aggregate everything we can find and create around anxiety specific to COVID-19 (6/13)
VirusAnxiety.com is one-stop-shop full of resources around how to care for your coronavirus-related anxiety and take a moment to breathe. (7/13)
Our team, along with the @MentalHealthAm team is updating this site *daily* so you can get the most useful mental health info, all in one place. (7/13)
And because some of these mental health Qs have *never* been asked before, we partnered with licensed psychologists who will be taking Qs and answering them daily on the site (8/13)
We were *very* intentional about the colors, photos, etc. so that you can know that this is safe space —no blinking red breaking news items here. (8/13)
