Starting day 16 of aggregating #COVID19 news in Iran
picking up from last night

Gilan's positive signs were sadly short-lived. Health Ministry representative in Gilan states that [after a pause] there is continued growth of #COVID19 in the province and without self-isolation, it will get much worse.

Things in the holy city of Mashhad (3M population) are very worrying according to the mayor: "Worst scenarios predicted already happening".

Mashhad is a very prosperous city due to millions of pilgrims from inside Iran and abroad.

Meanwhile the holy shrine of Imam Reza has been closed for 3 days.

Ayatollah Alamolhoda, Supreme Leader rep in Mashhad had been a big opponent to closing of the shrine. As said above, the shrine is the source of huge income for the city [and officials].

In Qazvin (400K), a hotspot for #COVID19, city's public transport which is bus network has been shut down starting from today.

Reports of Tehran (12M) lockdown which was unconfirmed, has been strongly denied: "No plan for Tehran lockdown" according to Health Ministry

Citizens of Khaaf (33K) in Khorasan Razavi province near Mashhad, have protested against mass deep graves dug by the officials in this town.

#BREAKING For the first time, we are given a report of age with regard to both cases and deaths.

Bear in mind, testing was mainly carried out for high officials and from the ordinary people, only hospitalised patients. This means only the worst cases were tested => high mortality.

These percentages do not quite corroborate with official numbers but frankly nothing does!
Nahid Noshad, 4th nurse in Gilan province passed away. (no picture available)

More on the situation in Mashhad (3M pop) and Khorasan Razavi province (6.4M). There are 2544 #COVID19 (suspect) patients hospitalised.

According to average Iran bed/pop of 1.7/1000, this is more than 1/3 of hospital beds in the province.

Mashhad also considering lockdown.
Short #COVID19 :

- all flights to Rasht (700K) international airport cancelled today
- Health officials in Kermanshah (670K), declared "Code Red"
- Health officials in Torbat-e-Jam (100K) talking of lack of PPE for medical staff
Dr. Yousef Mousavi, a GP in Galikesh (20K), Gilan (2.5M) has died of #COVID19

Harirchi, deputy Health Minister who had a positive #COVID19 test, is back to work now and is warning that Qom, the epicentre, could have another wave of cases.

This shows Qazvin (400K) today, people just going about their daily life. Apparently they closed the roads to the city in front of cameras and then opened again.

#COVID19 is ravaging through the city.

Some good news: 5 nurses in Pirooz Hospital in Lahijan (100K), Gilan (6.4M) who had contracted #COVIDー19 are now recovered in self-isolation with no need for hospitalisation.

#BREAKING Today's official reports:

Cases: 12729 (+1365)
Deaths: 611 (+97)

If these numbers mean anything, this is 7th consecutive rise in the number of daily fatalities.

Official number of #COVIDー19 deaths:

- 14/03: 611 (+97)
- 13/03: 514 (+85)
- 12/03: 429 (+75)
- 11/03: 354 (+63)
- 10/03: 291 (+54)
- 09/03: 237 (+43)
- 08/03: 194 (+49)
For any researcher interested you can find the raw #COVIDー19, numbers (cases and deaths), total and per province in the spreadsheet I keep:

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
Today is a good day for data. We are also given a view into the

- 220K kits donated
- 80K used so far
- 6K daily tests in 70 (50 active) labs
- Takes 48 hours to report
- 11300 positive (14%) [yesterday]

Another view of people going about their daily lives a week before Persian New Year.

This one is Langarud (65K), Gilan province (2.5M), one of the worst affected areas.

There has been little enforcement by the government despite a lot of "talk".

Another #COVIDー19 death among the medical staff:

Dr. Afshar Amiri, psychiatrist in Tehran
There are rumours that General Ghalibaf, ex-Mayor of Tehran and just elected MP to Tehran had died due to #COVIDー19 some days/weeks ago but the news yet to be announced.

All we can say is that he has not been seen in public for a few weeks now.

A 26 year old #COVID19 pregnant woman who has delivered the baby by C-section, is in critical condition in Langarud (65K), Gilan (2.5M).

The child is also in NICU.

#BREAKING President Rouhani, has agreed to limiting movements across 11 provinces - a proposal by the Health Minister.

[Still unclear exact form of the limitation but seems it will be enforced by the armed forces]

Another good news on medical staff:

Jaber Kaffash, head nurse in Pirooz hospital in Lahijan (100K), Gilan (2.5M) has been discharged from hospital.

He had been admitted with severe #COVIDー19

#BREAKING the plan for extended lockdown has been announced - this will be run by the armed forces (army and IRGC)

- The whole population to be screen in the next 7-10 days virtually [very ambitious]
- 1000 mobile health stations across the country
...
tasnimnews.com/fa/news/1398/1…
(cont.)
- roads and shops to be cleared [not clear how much]
- this will be part of a military practice in preparation for biological warfare

The details frankly still very sketchy. If someone knows more tell me!
President Rouhani has signed a bill to delay repayment of loans for some business for 3 months.

You might ask what happened to collapsed cases? Well they have been happening but seems people visit hospitals sooner hence less often. [There has been a few but I did not post.]

This one is from Asaluyeh, Bushehr apparently today. Asaluyeh is high risk for labourer dorms.
The establishment like before has turned #COVIDー19 to yet another opportunity for propaganda with war slogans and mobilising the base to show power and control.

There are dozens of videos but I refrain from reporting them, frankly not worth your time and not helping anyone.
Another collapsed case - as with similar cases the #COVIDー19 link is hard to impossible to prove (or disprove).

This one is in Bushehr (223K) in the south. Asaluyeh is in the Bushehr province (1.5M) where Bushehr city is the centre.
There are confirmed reports that #COVIDー19 testing kits not available in many areas - also used only for officials and their relatives. Examples: Lahijan (100K) or Saqqez (165K) where the situation is critical.

I have been asked on a number of occasion on this incident. This did happen but was a one-off and mixture of fog and fumigation. Not reported in Lahijan again nor anywhere else.

I learnt about it from firsthand sources but did not find it worth reporting

Time to leave you until tomorrow.

Key takeaway today: situation remains critical in the existing hotspots while new hotspots are forming leading to more deaths. If you have not, do look at case fatality rate per age up in the thread arguably most important news today.
