A tip for super forecasters. In a few weeks time cases of coronavirus will be markedly down in the UK and many other countries due to social distancing. So after sorting out all the immediate issues you might want to think of what governments do then? Relax or maintain?
Hence along with managing immediate health, economy, manufacturing, supply chain etc issues gov also has to consider the next year. Wartime analogies are accurate, but politicians / media still slow to see the scale of the challenge.
On how government needs to step up from @robertshrimsley. I suspect we really do need a 'war Cabinet' approach, the scale of required government intervention and coordination is too large for existing structures. ft.com/content/77ef20…
