(1/6) Nurturing our mental health during the #COVID19 crisis matters for all but there are special considerations for marginalized college students and professionals.

Psychologist and researcher @dralfiee shares her recommendations in the thread below. #MentalHealthMatters
(2/6) People of certain racial/ethnic backgrounds are more likely to be targeted in negative ways in relation to #COVID19. People of these backgrounds need to know that they aren't at fault for others’ biases and should be prepared to protect their well-being during this time.
(3/6) College professionals can remember to be excellent listeners for students of color and diverse students during the #COVID19 crisis. Sometimes, we just need to talk through and process our worries and concerns. #MentalHealthMatters #HigherEd
(4/6) Professionals should keep in mind that while they cannot fix everything for students, they can be mindful of the small things they can do to support students who are under-resourced. #MentalHealthMatters #COVID19 #HigherEd
(5/6) Some ways you can help:
- Donate unused travel size supplies
- Help students locate social services in their hometowns
- Offer to be a temporary point of contact for a student until they get safely placed while school is closed

(6/6) And remember, professionals of color and marginalized backgrounds need care too. Take care of your own mental health needs/stressors during this time. Every day of the #COVID19 crisis requires that you find time for you. Even if it's 5 minutes. Make those 5 minutes count.
