Now that I've gotten most of the swearing out of my system, let's pull on some threads here.
First, the part about Trump being the most unpopular candidate in history. True but misleading.
He was very popular within the base. So the primary was his. And most Rs vote R in the general, giving him an automatically solid floor.
In other words, in a hyperpartisan environment with a RW like this, a 1984 blowout was never in the cards. To imply otherwise is narrative.
Instead of calling them unpopular, it's more informative to say Trump and Clinton were both highly *divisive*.
To just call them unpopular ignores their large bases - to score a point on Clinton. But they both won their primaries for a reason.
And so this line of argument both minimizes how palatable Trump's white male supremacy was and blows off the majority of Dems that chose her
If you focus solely on how unpopular Trump and Clinton were, you're ignoring GOP bigots and Dem POC. A world of just non-bigoted whites. 🤔
A world where bigotry and its victims have conveniently disappeared.
Now to the last part of that quoted Sanders sentence. "… and she lost."

I'm not even talking about how she won the popular vote and only lost the EC by about 80,000 votes. Although that matters.
I'm talking about how Trump's win has a huge fucking asterisk because of all the treason and voter suppression.
But Sanders has a self-serving narrative to maintain so let's ignore the unconstitutional, immoral theft of the franchise from POC.
Sanders and his slice of the left would rather bash Clinton than say the election was illegitimate. Fuck that.
And same goes for everyone in the media that would rather bash Clinton than accept any responsibility for 2016.
They all want Hillary and her voters to stop talking about 2016, but in the next breath they knock Hillary for 2016. As Bernie did here. 🤔
So really they're fine talking 2016 - they just don't want to hear any analysis that implicates them.
They're sweeping our country's white male supremacy under the rug. And their role in it.
