Eating walnuts for 6 months was associated with better sustained attention and intelligence scores in teenagers

Vegetable, but Not Potato, Intake Is Associated With a Lower Risk of Type 2 Diabetes
1. 54,793 people were followed up for 16.3 years. Participants in the highest total vegetable intake quintile (median 319 g/day) had a 0.35 kg/m2 lower BMI and a 21% lower risk of incident T2D.
2. Participants in the highest compared with the lowest (median 256 versus 52 g/day) potato intake quintile had a 9% higher risk of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D).
3. Of the vegetable subclasses, higher intake of green leafy and cruciferous vegetables was associated with a statistically significantly lower risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

FRONT AND BACK GARDENS
Lots of people who grow veggies probably use their back garden but what about all of that available space in the front?
A lawn can look lovely but wouldn’t lots of fruits and vegetables look even better? If you only have a small space in the front of your house you can utilize containers for growing veggies.
It can also be a lovely way to cultivate friendships with passers by….it could even be the start of a community growing group where you coordinate who grows what.

It’s almost guaranteed that there is some unused space within your community that would make the ideal spot for a veggie patch and for bringing people together, it’s just a case of finding the area and talking to the right people.

Thirty-six participants (18-60 years, BMI: 25-40 kg/m2) with insulin resistance were enrolled.

Startling Food Safety tips you may wish you'd have known long before now:
1. It takes four hours for bacteria to start multiplying.

2. Freezing only stops the growth of bacteria, but doesn't kill it; Cooking does.
3. It's harmful for a raw turkey to be kept non-refrigerated for more than 45 mins.

4. Fruits and Vegetables in the bag is a WRONG. It could lead to contamination.
