/ This thread will sway nobody who doesn't already agree with me (which most of my followers already do) but I feel the need to say it anyway: @POTUS's policies are not just cruel in the present. They deny us the American patriots of the future.
/ My great-grandfather came to this country as a child. He spoke no english and didn't practice the dominant religion. From him sprang four generations of proud Americans, including a WW II veteran, a teacher, a doctor, a civic architect, and a 4-time Emmy winner (that was me).
/ My wife's grandfather, grandmother, and father were refugees whose families had been murdered. They came to this country with nothing. They built a small business and produced more generations of proud American citizens.
/ I can't help but imagine our current @potus slamming the door shut in the face of my ancestors, my wife's ancestors, my son's ancestors.
/ My son is 4, the same age as some of the children now being torn from their parents and thrown in detention facilities. He is free only through the grace of God that allowed his ancestors to enter the United States at times when this was possible.
/ My son loves America. He loves the presidents. He apparently knows more American history than many of those in elected office today. He would not exist if our @POTUS and his cronies had had their way earlier.
/ My son would not exist if men like @SpeakerRyan and @SenateMajLdr McConnell were running Congress in those eras. I'm guessing your children wouldn't exist, either.
/ Our @POTUS and those who refuse to use their power to force the end of his policies, are denying existence to future Americans. They are denying America the brilliance, strength, and courage of those Americans unborn. They are closing the door to your descendants.
/ The foolish and short-sighted limits they set on who is capable of being an American do more damage to our nation and its future than any refugee allowed into the country, or any child allowed the presence of its parents.
/ When in history has it ever been right to tear families apart? When in history has it ever been unwise to show mercy to those in need of it?
/ Nothing I say will convince @POTUS that he is wrong, though he so clearly is. But I felt the need to say it anyway.
/ Now I'll go back to reading to my son. Thanks to God that by my family's luck I can take it for granted that he will be in my house and by my side tonight. I pray the same will soon be said by many others who can't say it now.
