This is very intriguing research by Rob Ford, a politics professor at Manchester Uni. The research shows that Brits' attitudes to migration has increased, but remarkably it's not because people think that Brexit will make migration go down 1/
medium.com/@robfordmancs/…
The positive attitude towards immigration is across the board, also in people who believe Brexit will increase immigration (so it's not as Gove says that people are now willing to be more positive because they think it's now finally under control) 2/
One may then ask: why? Author offers several reasons, including less negative media coverage of immigrants, greater awareness of cost of migration reduction (whoops who will pick our fruit?), greater awareness of human cost of draconian anti-immigration measures (Windrush?) /3
If this continues then the Conservatives should be worried because they have nothing but sack and ashes (and maybe no deal!) to offer, and reducing net migration to the 10,000s. The moment people stop prioritising that, they'll see how messed up the conservative policies are /end
PS: typo in first tweet: attitude increased should be attitude improved. Sorry!
