NBC News did a piece on Gitmo tonight, claiming the detention center, and U.S. Naval base are dilapidated.

Were they sending Patriots a message? What is the truth about Gitmo? Read my thread.

2. An article, featured on Military.Com and first published in the Miami Herald last March, claims “Trump is the builder-in-chief” when it comes to Gitmo:

3. The article claims the Trump administration has more than $200 million in new construction teed up for Guantanamo for 2018 & 2019.

But the article claims $115 million of that is earmarked to build a new barracks on the Naval base to house enlisted prison staff under one roof
4. The article looked at the spending bill signed by POTUS last March and it indicated that Congress did not fund a new $69 million prison for the high-value detainees at Guantanamo, called Camp 7.

But what else was in that bill?
5. It devoted $66 million to a 150-prisoner jail, with campus, at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state for troops and airmen accused of crimes.

But nothing for Camp 7 at Guantánamo.
6. Work on the barracks at the base in Cuba has not yet begun, but is slated for April 2019 with a completion date of September 2021.

Here’s another interesting find:

A portion of the war court complex at Camp Justice in Guantánamo will be expanded.
7. The Pentagon awarded a $19 million contract to expand the war court complex with Top Secret office space. The builder? A subsidiary of the construction giant that helped rebuild the World Trade Center.

8. “The latest Guantánamo award is part of an ongoing building boom at the base that began in earnest during the Trump administration, to include new $115 million barracks for prison guards and other Detention Center staff recently approved by Congress.”
9. Also part of the spending bill for Guantánamo is the construction of a new K-12 school for children of the prison staff.

The land for the base was granted to the U.S. by Cuba in 1903 for helping the Cubans defeat the Spanish.

In later years, Cuba was not a fan of that deal.
10. As of May 2018, 40 detainees remain at Guantánamo.

In 2015, Rep. McKeon, declared the prison infrastructure had an overall capacity for 800 captives. Navy Adm. Kurt Tidd, told Congress in March that with degraded facilities and a downsized prison the capacity was around 65
11. Here’s the article:

12. There are a variety of cells and detention centers at Guantánamo with various names and purposes, and you can read about them in the article above.

Take a look around. Camp Justice is included in the descriptions at the end.
13. Camp Justice: The centerpiece of the war court compound is the Expeditionary Legal Complex, or ELC — a state-of-the-art maximum-security courthouse capable of trying six defendants at a time and releasing the audio to the public on a 40-second delay.
14. In 2018, Congress authorized the expenditure of $14 million on an ELC expansion.

Also, officials at the detention center said they could take in about 40 more male detainees without any changes to staff levels and about 200 if additional guards are brought in.
15. No such request has come from the administration, the article noted, but one member of the staff added that he has been asked “some hypothetical questions” about capacity.
16. What to make of all this information?

It seems Gitmo is being updated and upgraded, but not the detention or holding cells themselves. Just the barracks, the school and the war court

But POTUS has certainly been paying attention to the place.
17. Here’s what Q said about Gitmo:
18. If Gitmo is going to be a destination for the treasonous in the US, it’s obvious they’re making it better for the people who work there and not for the prisoners.

End.
