Trump’s US negotiators wanted the ability to supersede Canadian judicial system. They demanded the same secretive process given to China by the FIPA Harper negotiated & signed & CPC enacted in 2014. Putting Canada’s sovereignty in extreme danger.
China’s ability to ignore Canadian court’s & law & to influence Canadian policy under threat of bankrupting fines for taxpayers has put Canadian sovereignty in peril. The fact Freeland and her negotiating team blocked that from becoming included in USMCA is a SIGNIFICANT victory.
The fact the Canadian government is unable to discuss the FIPA with China in public is due to the confidentiality clause Harper allowed to be included in the agreement. Creating secrecy and an inability of govt representatives to inform the public.
But the press isn’t part of the govt. Meaning there are no restrictions on journalists to inform the public of the China/Canada FIPA restrictions and the dangerous position in which it puts Canada and Canadian sovereignty.
Did Canada concede some dairy to block the demands of Trump negotiators? Yes they did, & our sovereignty remains precariously intact because of that concession.

That’s essential information to leave out of your article for public consideration. The absence of it lends credence to the claims of Canadian opposition leaders & supporters that Freeland’s bipartisan negotiating team failed & sold out dairy. I’m unclear if that was your intent.
I hope in your future journalistic offerings you provide all relevant information for readers to consider, rather than a cherry picked selection and an intentional amplification of foreign election interference narratives.
