#BER is to open its doors at the end of October next year. According to a report, the cost of the new capital city #airport will once again #rise by 300 million euros. Because of the long construction time, it probably also changes to the offered routes.

According to a media report, the costs for the capital's airport #BER are even higher than planned. As the "@BILDamSONNTAG" cites a confidential report to the shareholders #Berlin, #Brandenburg and the federal government reports,

the #airport company for the #financing plan 2021 to 2024 requires almost 300 million euros more than previously estimated.

For the completion of the main #terminal alone, according to the report, there are still 212 million euros in follow-up costs. The cost of the building therefore rise to 2.6 billion euros. Furthermore,

there is additional demand of around 60 million euros for the so-called Master Plan 2040.

So far, 508 million euros have been earmarked for the period. According to the figures cited by "Bild am Sonntag", the #airport now needs 792 million euros for the period.

According to the report, the #shareholders reacted angrily at the additional demand and called on the management to rework it.

#Airport chief Engelbert Lütke Daldrup had announced on Friday, October 31, 2020 as the final date for the opening of the #BER. Originally, the #airport was supposed to start operating in #2011, but the opening date was postponed again and again.

With the start of #construction of the terminal in the summer of 2008, a cost of 2.4 billion euros was calculated. In the year of the planned opening in 2012, costs of at least 4.5 billion euros were stated, in July 2015, the forecasts approached the mark of six billion euros.

At the beginning of 2018, the total cost was estimated at 7.3 billion euros.
