It was an incident that made headlines far beyond the borders of the 14,000-inhabitant city of #Grünberg (#Gießen).
At the beginning of November, it became known that several students from Theo-Koch School had #played and #sung #Antisemitic songs on their way back from a visit to the memorial in the former #Buchenwald #concentrationcamp near #Weimar.
Even then, the school announced the #consequences. Now school #community has turned to the public - with an #advertisement in a regional #newspapers. In the #ad, which appeared under the heading "Zero #Tolerance with #AntiSemitism",
the school community stated that it had "to be #ashamed and #shaken" to acknowledge that "#jew hostility and #Antisemitic ideas had also found a place among us".
"We are deeply affected by the terrible #hatred that was expressed in the text of an #Antisemitic song that was heard by our #students after visiting the #Buchenwald #concentrationcamp memorial," it continues.
In the advertisement that has now been published, the school community - consisting of management, parenthood, student representation and support association - emphasizes that there is "no place for #inhumane ideologies, hatred and exclusion of any kind" at Theo-Koch School.
The school has been participating in the "School without #Racism - School with Courage" campaign since 1996. This resulted in the obligation to "fight against all forms of #discrimination, #AntiSemitism, #racism and contempt for human beings".
School measures were allegedly initiated against the 4 suspects.
