Reportedly, @VP asked health professionals to clear messaging & strategy with the @WhiteHouse. If true, he has it exactly backwards. It is political leaders like @POTUS & Pence who should clear their messaging with our best scientists and ph professionals.

U.S. should have a single trusted source of science-based info. That source should be @CDCgov or @NIH (& state or local health dept). Tony Fauci & Anne Schuchat are dear friends. They're both experienced scientists. Tony or Anne should lead in #COVID19 health communication.

A single trusted source would follow this mantra:

* Tell us what we know best on best avail science
* Tell us what we don't know
* Tell us what we plan to do to find out what we don't know.

Clear unvarnished communication could be the key countermeasure against an #infodemic
