How ironical.

Set to operate next year. Half the countries already ratified it.
Whilst the intention is to remove tariffs on 90% of goods, because the tariffs are a source of both protection and revenue discissions are ongoing to determine timescale.

The current 15% of inter-Africa trade is expected to double in 10 years.
South Africa is the most industrialised of the countries but NTBs such as poor transport infrastructure, delays at border posts, poorly trained customs officers and corruption.
