Major news on the 2017 Manchester bomber and UK govt support for groups connected to him. Would perhaps be lead news in the media but only on another planet. See next 4 tweets
1/ Govt admits (for 1st time) it “likely” had contacts with Libyan Islamic Fighting Group & 17 February Martyrs' Brigade in Libya war of 2011. *These were the groups with which Manchester bomber Salman Abedi and his father reportedly fought in 2011*. goo.gl/NUG1RE
2/ Now we know UK govt likely had contacts with groups for which Manchester bomber and father fought in Libya 2011, key question is: were they among those specifically helped by MI5 to go to Libya in 2011? (Theresa May was then Home Secretary) goo.gl/JdgWex
3/ Key background is: Salman Abedi & father were part of the group (Libyan Islamic Fighting Group) UK previously coverty backed to kill Qadafi in 1996. The LIFG was then an al-Qaeda affiliate. bit.ly/2rPIOUd
4/ For analysis by @NafeezAhmed and me of UK links to Manchester bomber, see: “The Manchester Bombing as Blowback: The latest evidence”. bit.ly/2rPIOUd
Rather than the fabricated hysteria about Corbyn's 'terrorist links', here is an actual, authentic link between UK govt policy and a terrorist who blew up 22 innocent people in the UK. In a democratic country, this might bring the govt down.
Key questions: in 2011 did then Home Sec Theresa May know about or authorise the despatch of Libyans in UK to Libya and were Salman or Ramadan Abedi part of this process? Did this group or the Abedis receive UK assistance to fight in Libya?
