The UK is in serious shit.
Maverick Edwards of Liberty University describes anarcho-capitalism as a political, social, and economic theory that places markets as the central "governing body" and where government no longer "grants" rights to its citizenry.
theguardian.com/money/2023/jun…
Anarcho-capitalism is anti-statist/Governance, libertarian. Its economic theory seeks to abolish centralized states in favor of stateless societies with systems of private property enforced by private agencies, free markets and self-ownership.
Post Brexit UK will make this flesh.
'Taking back control' has never been in the publics interest, look at the plethora of laws currently being deregulated/abolished since leaving the EU, they span, protest rights, workers rights, food safety, environmental protections, voter suppression, land grabbing...

What do the Tories mean by their championing of ‘Singapore-On-Thames’ post-Brexit freedoms bonanza? Thatcher kickstarted the turn away from Europe with her wish for ‘a kind of free-trade and non-interventionist Singapore’.
Singapore and Hong Kong are indicators of economic governance where the short-circuiting of democracy was the key to their successes. Singapore’s troubling working classes were bypassed in favour of bringing in foreign workers who could be hired, fired, and then deported.
The state shaped Singapore’s success, not the free market, it set up massive land reclamation projects around its coasts using sovereign wealth funds and ‘plugged in’ to multinational corporations. Singapore avoided years of development by bringing in tech and a foreign workforce

1. Here are my ideas on how the you can use Twitter to change the course of Brexit…

(Expect trolls from doing this so be prepared to ignore and block them)
2. This works because political parties use social media sentiment monitoring tools to analyse the public mood.
3. The aim of paid troll disinformation farms is

(a) to demoralise you,
(b) to ensure they get more tweets out than you that are negative about what you are calling for,
and (c) ultimately to destabilise society and make you think your fellow countrymen are idiots.

1. A thread on taking back control of borders.

(Or not).

Unpacking the confusion.
2. The UK government claims to want to take back control of borders.

But did they mean control of settlement immigration? Or actual control of border crossings?

Do they even know what they want to control?
3. In reality, as a non-Schengen country, and as an island, the UK has always had full control of its border crossing points. UK is surrounded by water which helps. The only exception perhaps is the open Irish border but that’s down to the Good Friday Agreement not EU membership.

This🧵draws parallels between Truss' model of investment zones to those installed in Shenzen, China, another model of capitalist achievement lauded by the libertarian right. Even Chinese citizens needed visas to enter the quarantined ‘corporate zone of economic experimentation’.
Inside this zone, local entrepreneurs were left to self organize as corporate management had been handed Govt powers. The zone had a huge influx of foreign investment as land and labor were aggressively commodified.
1987 an inland market was set up, a deluge of venture capitalists descended onto Shenzen, huge swathes of land were taken from rural usage and transformed into private property, this was one of the biggest transfers of public wealth to private hands in modern history. UK next!

Not such a good idea to talk about winners and losers.

For one thing, the UK and its citizens had "lost" once they had voted for Brexit and engaged A50.

1.

economist.com/europe/2023/03…
For another, Europe needed to protects its member states, citizens and way of life. It this it succeeded absolutely.

2.
But it is telling that the Brexiters and many Britons feel they have "lost". Quite simply, life is worse outside Europe and there is strength in unity.

But it is also clear that Brexit, apart from being foolish, was plain directionless from the off.

I honestly don't understand the "solution" to the #NorthernIreland issue which was caused by the #BrexitDisaster that #RishiSunak seems so excited about.

A short 🧵. Maybe someone can enlighten me.

Apparently the solution is something called the #NorthernIrelandProtocol

(1/8)
Apparently, according to this protocol, there will be a "border at sea." Goods coming from England to Northern Ireland will be marked as those terminating in Northern Ireland or those going on to Ireland (EU checks.)

I don't understand how this will solve the problem. (2/8)
The whole point of the UK coming out of the EU was the implication that the UK will not benefit from the European market rules. That means, for example that French cheese is cheaper for European countries than it is for England.

Absolutely F*****G INCREDIBLE!

Rishi Sunak just spent 2 minutes boasting about how Northern Ireland is the "most exciting exciting investment zone on the planet" because it has full access to the UK and EU market...

You know... like we did before Brexit!

My "live" reaction to @RishiSunak on the clock app.
This is why I said the Brexit debate is over.

They've stopped hiding the fact that Brexit is bad for the people to the UK.

The only question is: how long do we tolerate voluntary poverty?

Disaster capitalists, r/w populists and fascists have hobbled a once stable country that rarely suffered the sort of political ruptures that affected other nations. 7 years of BS since the vote to leave the EU, Britain has become a byword for political chaos.

This is the price the country pays for Johnson's reckless legacy, the Tories much trumpeted 'levelling up' agenda is desperately trying to put sticking plasters on it's own cock ups. It was always going to be this way, Brexit cannot work.

Tories will not fess up, Labour will not mitigate the damage with common sense approaches like realigning with the EU. The UK has been kidnapped by disaster capitalists, xenophobes, racists and radical right libertarians under the guise of patriotism. What a fucking mess.
The worst is yet to come, 31st Dec REUL Bill sunsets 4000 EU laws in 1 fell swoop, no country has ever done this in world history. Employment rights, food safety, environmental laws, all protections abolished, transition phase mean corporate fascism for UK

'Profound effects on UK legal system if (when) it becomes law'. Trump repealed 85 laws over 2 years. Why are they in such a rush? Deregulation will inflict havoc on workers protections with 'sunsetting' clauses.
Deregulation is the key word of understanding Brexit. Tories want a trade war with EU with severe consequences on so many levels of infrastructure, safety/CE mark, environment, workers rights, devolved administrations will experience political power grabs from Westminster, insane
