1. #Houthis' ability to launch a drone into oil installations in #KSA isn't all that impressive when you consider that their main supplier, #Iran, has been guiding them throughout the process. It is absurd to think that this is a Houthis' DIY project w/out considering the source;
2. #Houthis formerly used the Qasef-1 drone, which according to the 2018 UN experts has "characteristics similar to #Iranian- made Ababil-2/T loitering munition ...as well as the smaller Rased reconnaissance drone." Likely that Qasef-1 suicide drone was used in the attack today.
3. Interesting that #Houthi TV boasted its ability to send SEVEN drones attacking "vital security interests of KSA" followed by reporting by #Iran's news agency FARS that the US is unable to protect its allies in the Gulf.
4. #Houthis' capability comes from abroad. The same UN reports implies "that #Houthi forces retained access to the critical components, such as engines, guidance systems, from abroad that are necessary to assemble and deploy them." Parts were traced to different locations;
5. #Houthis are increasing their use of drones, earlier this year they launched a drone into a military parade in al-Anad South #Yemen causing significant casualties & another one was shot into Abha, #KSA. #Houthis' drones are reaching further every time;
6. Moreover, #Houthis have been regularly launching ballistic missile inside & outside #Yemen, incl. attacking #KSA's Riyadh airport citing their own grievances against #Saudi, when in reality it is an #Iranian plan to pressure #US & #KSA & exhaust it fighting #Houthis in #Yemen
7. #Iran continues to develop #Houthis' military capabilities & have been increasingly using sea mines on the shipping lanes of Bab al-Mandab, which is another way for #Iran to remind the US & its allies that it controls other straits beyond #Hormuz.
