What we have seen at the European external border in the last 48 hours is the complete breakdown of the European Union as the so-called defender of human rights. 
At the Greek-Turkish border, refugees are targeted not only with tear gas but also with deadly firearms.

In the Aegean, boats trying to reach the EU are found, but then only circled to put people in danger with waves. Frontex ships watch the boats but do not help.
At the same time, boats are reaching the Greek island of Lesvos, where Nazis are gathering in the harbour to prevent the people from entering safe land.
Everywhere on the island volunteers, journalists and refugees were attacked by fascists today while the police are watching.
The reaction of the EU:
No reminder of the basic right to asylum, which EVERYBODY has.
No immediate support for those seeking help and local actors.
Instead, Frontex forces are being sent to Greece to help close the border.

Austria's racist Chancellor Kurz publicly calls for a breach of the Geneva Convention on Refugees and in Germany, Seehofer vehemently opposes the reception of people seeking protection.
