The assessment presented to Congress says "Iran’s continued implementation of the JCPOA" means it is abt a year away from being able to produce a nuke vs a few months

"We expect #Iran will continue supporting the Houthis in #Yemen & Shia militants in #Iraq while developing indigenous military capabilities that threaten US forces&allies in the region" DNI Coats said "Iran maintains the largest inventory of ballistic missiles in the #MiddleEast"

"These actions underscore our concerns for a long-term trajectory of #Iran|ian influence in the region and the risk of conflict escalation" DNI Coats told the Senate intelligence committee

Former @CIA Dir @JohnBrennan -an outspoken critic of @POTUS- hits back, tells Trump his tweeting on #ISIS #DPRK #Iran "shows the extent of your intellectual bankruptcy. All Americans, especially members of Congress, need to understand the danger you pose to our national security"

So far, both @CIA and @NSAGov have declined comment on @POTUS' tweets regarding the intelligence community's assessments

Reaction now from the vice chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, @MarkWarner, says @POTUS "has a dangerous habit of undermining the intelligence community to fit his alternate reality. People risk their lives for the intelligence he just tosses aside on Twitter"

Former @ODNIgov Dir James Clapper calls @POTUS tweets "sophomoric"

"He should actually read the written assessment" per Clapper "I guess he’s reacting to the media focus on the disparities between what the IC assessed &what his 'gut' tells him, so, of course he had to push back"

"I don’t think it’s any deeper than that," Clapper told @VOANews "I was proud of the IC [Intelligence Community] leaders for telling truth to power, which is their duty to the American people"
