I think many more Americans can be persuaded against private health insurance, but there's definitely a sense of false confidence on the left that the public is already there

Okay I’ve finally been able to articulate what has bugged me about the Amy Klobuchar discussion, which is that I don’t think people are being completely forthright about the alleged problem (thread). /1
The real undercurrent from all the stories we’ve seen is not actually “tyrant with an anger problem.” What comes through from the stories, and what I’ve also personally heard, is that she very, very emotionally erratic. /2
That she cries, screams, and just freaks out often. Gets super stressed, and upset. And clearly takes that all out on her staff sometimes. /3 See:

@scribejones @onesarahjones 1. The article focuses on exactly what the written response acknowledges is the real problem: that members disagree on how best to fight racial oppression, esp. in a majority-white org. (Note how "implies" is a lot of work here.)
@scribejones @onesarahjones 2. I read the "documentation" and "additional statements" that supposedly contain the relevant missing information for this incident. Didn't find much of anything!(Screenshots: Article Response, July DSA chair statement, how it's presented in Salazar's article)

Certainly sounds like a charged situation — evidenced by the chairs releasing a long statement about it in July. DSA cites its procedural rules, and Tur-ha Ak called those rules racist. 1. I'm going to respond to this @DFER_DC criticism of my WCP article (washingtoncitypaper.com/news/article/2…) because it's not just factually wrong, but it gets at something much more serious that deserves attention.
2. @DFER_DC defends idea that some charters shouldn't have public inspections, citing potential displeased landlords. Let's be clear: There are public inspections for privately-owned buildings all over the city. Restaurants, apartments, etc. And those are *privately-funded.*
3. The argument being advanced here is that there should be exceptions made for publicly-funded schools, that lease from private landlords. Because, that could possibly, maybe, be a barrier for a good charter that wants to open.
