It is alarming that career officials - lawyers, diplomats and intelligence agents - continue to lose their jobs or are smeared by the Trump administration for telling the truth. The Senate has been corrupted by bribes. Sycophants head DOJ, State, Intelligence. We are in a crisis.
And it is because, again, Trump wants to bottle up any discussion that Russia is interfering in our election. Every American should be enraged. Many of our ancestors lost their lives fighting for our rights and liberties.
Trump, moreover, attacks judges and jurors. He dangles pardons to individuals in his orbit to stay quiet to advance his corrupt scheme. Trump ignores the constitution. Overall, the entire apparatus of government and the checks our founders put into place have been dismantled.
Now is the time for whistleblowers to step up and bring to light Trump's flagrant and illegal misconduct. To be sure, the Ukraine episode was demoralizing because the truth and justice did not prevail. But we cannot give up. That is what fascism aims to accomplish.
Our constitutional republic hangs in the balance. We must refuse to allow a corrupt draft dodger, a habitual liar and malignant narcissist to undermine our experiment in self-government.
Ultimately, I find solace in the fact that a majority of Americans did not vote for Donald Trump. And he has failed to expand his support while in office. Nothing has been accomplished. Every decision has been corrupt. Each action has betrayed the ideals of our nation.
We are battling for the very soul of our nation. I am confident, however, that we will prevail if the resistance stays focused and continues to rise up through the election.
P.S. Do not accept the doom and gloom that Russia can alter the outcome. It tried to in the 2018 midterms, yet we experienced a blue wave that repudiated Trumpism. Keep fighting and assisting the resistance in any way that you can right now.
