This morning #Norway has indeed broken its all time #Covid19 record, and it wasn't even close.
1,785 new cases diagnosed. That's a 63% rise on last Wednesday and 233 above the previous record. Looks like #NOR will have its first 2000 day this week.
#Australia recorded 6 further #Covid19 deaths today.
1,239 new cases nationwide.
#NewZealand not out of trouble either yet with 76 new infections.
On #StLucia things do look to be improving. It seems the island, like many in the Caribbean, went to the edge of the #Covid19 abyss, but stepped back just in time.
A still high, but more manageable 64 new cases reported overnight. Hopefully the trend continues.
While we are on the Caribbean theme, #Jamaica yesterday evening reported 729 new #Covid19 cases. That was a slight fall compared to the week previously.
If we get a third good day's data later today it will look like the peak has been passed, but islands often see data leaps.
In Europe today:
#Belgium sneaks up again, another 15%, with 1,854 new #Covid19 cases and 6 deaths.
#Ukraine's numbers are still distorted by last week's holiday, but back over 2000 (2,075) and likely to be much worse towards the weekend. 44 more Covid deaths.
This won't surprise you.
After 996 yesterday, 985 new #Covid19 cases today "allegedly" according to #UAE, still within the impossibly narrow paramters.
I know many are worried about #Croatia. Relax, it won't go red according to my projections. It may however be move to amber. #Covid19 is still on the rise. 805 new infections today up from 677 last Wednesday. Four more deaths.
Those that accuse me of anti-Turkish bias may even relent a little now!
Sadly, what I predicted has indeed happened with more than 200 people having lost their lives in the #UK to #Covid19 in the latest daily update.
207 deaths (147 last Weds)
New cases are though down a fraction at 35,693 (-154)
Cases are not everything of course, but they still provide the best indicator of future pressures on the health service.
In #Scotland for example the surge is having a profound effect with 629 #Covid19 patients hospitalised, 61% higher then a week ago #England 6,236 (+5%)
A long work day in #Ukraine where I can report I needed to take 3 taxis today and none of the drivers was wearing a mask. They seem oblivious to the fact a #Covid19 wave has already started and I'm fearing a very big one in a country with one of the lowest vax rates in Europe.
On with the data, I'll try to get all the major nations and points of interest in before midnight though it's already Thursday here!
#Sweden reversed the recent tide with first fall for a week: 1,090 new #Covid19 cases, down 180. No further deaths. #Denmark also down 162 to 825
#Russia's daily death toll again within 10 of 800.
18,368 new #Covid19 cases yet again a slight fall (6%)
#Austria was up 17% today with 1,848 new infections and three deaths.
#Switzerland though unchanged with 3,202 new cases, 3 more have died of Covid.
#Portugal is in no danger now after another very big fall takes the 7-day infection rate to well under 200 AD/M for the first time in 2 months.
Just 1,565 new #Covid19 cases, a 49% drop. 14 further deaths.
An increase in testing in #Turkey today with more than 300,000 #Covid19 tests undertaken. But that cannot hide the even bigger increase in new cases diagnosed and the positive test rate up to 8% today.
23,946 infections and 290 dead, the highest death toll for almost 4 months
#France reports 17,621 new #Covid19 cases. That's 26% down on a week ago. 86 more deaths
#Italy is over its double peak and infections falling more quickly now. 6,503 cases, down over 1,000.
51 died.
#Germany meanwhile up 17% with 14,641 cases, 65 dead
#Cyprus also down on Wednesday, but only by one case from 257 to 256.
The #Covid19 positive test rate though is down to 0.57%
Two deaths in the Republic, while also a Covid death in the Turkish North Cyprus.
Thursday's #Coronavirus megathread starts here with the best #Covid19 global analysis and round up available on Twitter.
First a little quiz, answer in the next Tweet:
Do you know which country has had the most recorded cases of Covid19 as a percentage of population?
So I hope there was no cheating... I'll leave some blank lines here too in case some later viewers don't want the answer just yet...

So the nation with more #Covid19 cases than any other based on population is highly vaccinated #Seychelles at more than 20% infected.
Today I spent quite a long time being filmed/interviewed by @bbcturkce about #Covid19 and #Turkey. Not sure how much they will use, let's see.
Coincidentally the cameraman Efe, just happened to be in Kyiv as one of those using Ukraine for a 10 day stop off to avoid hotel prison!
The daily #Coronavirus megathread for Tuesday starts early, from Manchester airport.
Because of the early start I missed a few countries from yesterday's thread, first I'll update these #Covid19 totals. Tweets during the day may be delayed due to travel & connectivity issues
1/3 #GreekIslands - yesterday cases nudged lower again in #Greece and there were some very promising data from the islands too.
#Crete cut new cases of #Covid19 by 43% while for #Corfu it was a 48% fall and #Rhodes saw a reduction of 38%.
Now more very concerning news from #Bahrain, one of the most vaccinated territories on the planet.
#Covid19 cases are still rising there - more worrying is the real increase in deaths too.
Second highest daily number of new cases & deaths in the latest update
graph @Worldometers
🚦review imminent, I'm getting a lot of questions.
I reply to everyone but it's so time consuming
I'm now working on 7-day rates for EVERY Greek island.
I'll continue to post free advice and data, so nothing will be hidden from anyone, so please don't be angry or upset! And yes you can still ask questions!
So the big news in UK today is that the single shot Jansen (J&J) #Covid19 vaccine has been approved
1/9 Which countries are the worst liars when it comes to #Covid19 deaths (and which are the most honest)?
There's no definitive way of stating, but analysis of excess deaths is a guide to the real extent of #Coronavirus
I've worked out official deaths as a % of excess deaths..
2/9 This is the best way to expose clear cheating.
But it's not perfect
Many nations suspected of underplaying #Covid19 deaths don't declare mortality data, notably India, Indonesia and Turkey, though for the latter two stats are available for the biggest cities Jakarta/Istanbul
3/9 Data are the latest available for each country but e.g. while Peru, Spain, UK are right up to date, others are >6 months old.
Some nations have negative excess deaths, e.g. Taiwan, New Zealand, Thailand, Australia, Japan, Iceland, Norway.
Having lockdowns, mask wearing etc
