Darlene Pendery told me there are really three parties in Texas, so I’ve run with that idea on the new Dollar Ranking pages. Candidate and Donor lists can be viewed in total, or by R (Republican), D (Democrat), or E (Empower). #txlege 
Candidates are the ones designated with a party. Donors may show up on multiple lists, as some give across the R, D and E designations.
Just in case you don't want to click a link, here are the House Dollar Rankings for the 2018 election cycle. I've included the Overall, Republican, Democrat and Empower top 20 breakouts (look at Party drop down). I think its fascinating, but then I'm a numbers freak. #txlege
In my database, when a candidate gets knocked out of the race, I update their name with a "X" in front. This helps me when sorting. When you run the House Dollar Ranking by Empower (E), you see 7 of their top 10 funded candidates are out, 12 of their top 20. #txlege
It is interesting how little crossover there is between House donors to Republicans & Empower. It really is a different party, just running officially with the same letter next to their names. When I've discussed Wilks / Empower and their orbit, this is the reality. #txlege
You also see the big divergence in the donors in the campaign mapping I've done. The only real bridge between the Empower party and the Republicans is Texans For Lawsuit Reform. Screen caps attached, but a link to the live map is here too #txlege embed.kumu.io/b40f6dca222b87…
A note on my campaign maps. The circles are all scaled based on the contributions someone or a group has made. When Farris Wilks looks the death star compared to others, that's legit. He's given directly to candidates and a ton to Empower and TRL. #txlege
