THREAD: #Map: ISIS attacks in May 2019 (Interactive)
Link: u.osmfr.org/m/322765/

303 attacks (39 more than in April) in total. In May ISIS claimed activity in 16 countries.
Two new Wilayahs, bigger activity in DRC and more. Stay here for more information.
Unlike April, there was no big "worldwide" offensive in May. Despite this, the number is much bigger than a month ago. 10+ attacks daily weren't anything unordinary. This trend has stayed in the first days of June as well.
Syria witnessed "rebranding" of Barakah branch of Wilayah Sham - it was moved back to Hasakah province. A big increase in the attacks in Hasakah was noticed. ISIS claimed more attacks in Middle Euphrates Valley Region, too.
As I said, a 50% increase in attacks in Deir ez-Zor province, more than 400% (16 vs 3) increase in Hasakah. In other parts of the country there weren't too many changes. A recent ISIS attack near Daraa will be mentioned in the next month, as it happened in June.
Unlike Syria, in Iraq the number of attacks remained almost exactly the same. Location wise, I also didn't notice big changes.
Note: This map doesn't include the crop fires claimed in al-Naba, simply because they weren't claimed by either Amaq or official statements.
The numbers look more even than in April (both in terms of day by day and per Province; as mentioned, no official offensive in May), but appear to slightly surge towards the end of the month. A suicide bombing in Sadr City was the first attack claimed by ISIS in months.

I keep saying that ISIS keeps spreading outside Syria and Iraq, but the reality is that more than 2/3 of the attacks are still in two of those countries. Still, that's more than 100 attacks in the rest of the world.
A lot has happened in former ISKP - Wilayah Pakistan and Wilayah Hind were created, in Afghanistan attacks in Ghazni and Kunduz should be noted. In Kunar, ISIS claimed the capture a few villages in Koldar area. I don't follow that part of the world too closely...
... but, unless something has changed (such as recapture by Taliban), it would be a third valley captured by ISKP in that area (after Korengal and near Chapa Dara).
ISWAP wasn't as active but was equally deadly in May. 14 attacks, but many of them targeting military bases, where many MNJTF soldiers were killed. The location of the attacks proves that the map published in this article (bit.ly/2Xu8XUT) shows the truth.
To see the full list of ISIS-claimed attacks (and much, much more), check this spreadsheet: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…
To keep the continuity, here's the last report about ISIS in April:
