US Ambassador James Jeffrey confirms the warning by SACD and @SyriaCivilDef that Assad regime is falsely using #COVID19 pandemic to have sanctions against it lifted. He confirmed that the sanctions do not in any way target medical aid to the Syrian people.
The sanctions target the regime for its abuses against Syrians and any aid to the regime that is not purely in the form of medical supplies, is likely to be invested in more killing, repression and depriving the Syrians of the most basic elements of a dignity and healthy life.
We repeat our call to the UN and international organizations working with the regime to secure permission to enter its prisons as there are real concerns that prisoners will be left to their fate as #COVID19 spreads. medium.com/@SACD/syrian-r…
