Trump Cucks Out to Saudi Arabia... #NoWarWithIran #HandsOffIran #DrainTheSwamp #MAGA
Donald Trump was a registered Democrat for much of his life. But after years of business dealings with Saudis & Israelis, he left the Democrat Party to become a Cuckservative Zionist and agent of the military industrial complex. His first job was to cuck out to Saudi Arabia.
Bow! Bow! Bow!
Curtsy for the king.
He’ll give you a medal,
For the weapons that you bring!
He’s got more money than you.
Bend over, kiss his ring.
I hate to say it Donnie,
But you look like a cuck.

1/ THREAD: Fact — If #Soleimani had truly planned to bomb even a single embassy, Trump wouldn't have felt the need to publically increase it to four embassies during an interview yesterday.

#NoWarWithIran #TrumpIsUnfit
2/ The fact that Trump suddenly increased the number to four embassies yesterday demonstrates his rationalization in attempting to justify the assassination of Soleimani (i.e., "more is better").
3/ If Trump were telling the truth, the potential bombing/attack upon one American embassy would be enough to carry out a significant preemptive strike of some sort upon Iran.

The Trump Admin. launched an unsuccessful attack against a 2nd senior Iranian official in #Yemen on the same night Soleimani was killed. Congress has not been briefed (not even at the classified briefing this week!). No justification has been provided.
The coordinated nature of these attacks raises further questions about the claim that Trump was reacting to an “imminent threat.” If these were part of a broader operation, then the failure to consult Congress is inexcusable. The American people need answers. #NoWarWithIran
This strike is also an escalation of U.S. involvement in Saudi Arabia’s war in #Yemen. The Pentagon has previously avoided direct involvement & last year the House & Senate passed a bipartisan resolution to end U.S. participation, which Trump vetoed.…

Since I’ve experienced it 1st hand more than once— I’m going to tell you what it’s like when you have a loved one & immediate family member who’s serving in a combat zone away from you, or is suddenly deployed with less than 24 hours notice to a war zone…

Before they leave, you scramble to make sure everything’s in order:
—Last minute checks for next of kin notifications…just in case

Time always comes too fast—You wait til the last second watching their plane & your heart depart.
And you feel gutted & terrified.
You spend hours, days & sometimes, weeks waiting to hear from them.
And when you don’t, even though you swore you wouldn’t, you finally give in—terrified of what you may find & check the news anyway—to look for stories of air strikes or hostile activity in their part of the world

I am proud to stand with my colleagues today to reassert our constitutional authority and introduce legislation—the No War Against Iran Act—to stop President Trump from leading this country into an illegal war against Iran.

The American people are sick and tired of endless wars.
When I look back upon American history I remember the two most significant foreign policy mistakes our country made in the modern era, and those are the war in Vietnam and the war in Iraq. And let us be clear, we were led into both of those wars by a series of lies.
The result: the war in Vietnam cost us 59,000 American deaths and many others who came home wounded in body and spirit. In fact, a whole generation was devastated by that war. The casualties in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia are almost incalculable.

1. 15 total missiles. 10 hit one base (Al-Assad), 1 near Erbil and the rest were duds. The missiles that hit sound like they were largely inconsequential.

2. `They could have targeted another base in Iraq that’s closer and has more US troops (Balad), but they didn’t. As of now it looks like a face saving symbolic attack.

It’s surprising as it’s a radical change from their usual doctrine... #NoWarWithIran #WarWithIran #Iran
3. They never use their regular military and rely on proxy. This might say more on the psychological effect the death of Soleimani has had inside Iran. The regime is acting out of weakness. The opposition within Iran and Iraq feel strengthened. Cont #NoWarWithlran #Iran

#BREAKING Soleimani was in Iraq to ease regional tensions; then Trump said ‘Kill him’

1/ From LiberationNews: The acting Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi addressed Parliament today with a recommendation for U.S. troops to be removed from the country.
2/ That speech has been widely covered in the U.S. media but its most explosive revelations have been omitted or buried.

Abdul-Mahdi revealed that Soleimani traveled to Baghdad to deliver a message back from Iran to Saudi Arabia about a proposal to lower tensions in the region,
3/ that Soleimani was to meet with the Prime Minister the very morning he was assassinated, and — most crucially — that days prior Trump had asked the Iraqi Prime Minister to “play the mediator’s role” between the U.S. and Iran.

After the USA overthrew #Iraq, US soldiers set up a prison at Abu Ghraib where they & CIA operatives tortured Iraqi citizens to death. The International Red Cross interviewed US military intelligence officers who said that between 70% - 90% of the prisoners were likely innocent.
At Abu Ghraib, male prisoners were sodomized with nightsticks, beaten unconscious, forced to masturbate in front of female prisoners and were told that if they weren't fully compliant that the US soldiers would rape their wives & children. #Iraq #NoWarWithIran
US Soldiers not only carried out rapes of female prisoners at #AbuGhraib, but they also created fake porn photos with some of the women & threatened to spread the photos to their families to humiliate them. Soldiers urinated on the women & dragged them by their hair. #Iraq

Iran announced today that it will no longer abide by the limits put in place by the #IranNuclearDeal. We don’t know all the details yet but this much is clear: this is serious and it’s entirely Donald Trump’s fault. Here’s what you need to know 👇
The most important thing to remember is that the #IranNuclearDeal was working, and Iran was complying —- and then Donald Trump violated it. Trump shredded it when he announced that the U.S. was leaving it in 2018.
Since taking office, Trump and his war cabinet have been doing everything they can to provoke a war with Iran. They have continued to escalate tensions, stoke fear, and spread misinformation.

1. One thing that struck me Thursday night after the assassination of Suleimani was people racing to agree that he had the blood of many Americans on his hands but a) without specifics and b) raising the question of why then was he virtually unknown to the average U.S. citizen
2. So the evidence - especially from Dexter Filkins' seminal 2013 NYer profile - is that Suleimani worked with Shi'ite militias in Iraq that killed Americans, especially with IEDs, during the mid-late 2000s. Why didn't US media publicize this? Where were the 'Wanted' posters?
3. I think the answer is simple. America didn't want to publicize the real outcome of our horribly misguided 2003 Iraq invasion, that it didn't make the world safer but opened the door for Iran to wield influence over Iran. In other words...

Even if the US escalation of conflict with Iran doesn't trigger a ground war, it represents another step towards a US foreign policy that presumes a future of global civil war.

We have to show what authoritarians of all stripes stand to gain from this.

A thread.

#NoWarWithIran Image
First, the US escalation confirms our thesis that Trump encouraging Erdoğan to invade Syria was not a step towards US withdrawal from the region, but a reshuffling of US alliances towards more authoritarian players.

The US is sending thousands more troops to the Mideast now. Image
Supposed "anti-imperialists" who parroted Trump's lie that he was pulling the US out of "endless wars" naïvely gave cover to his effort to abet Turkish and Russian imperial ambitions while setting the stage for him to escalate conflict with Iran. Image

@tulsigabbard has been warning about the sudden spark that could lead to war for years now. Tulsi was trying to stop this administration from having the power to declare war with Iran by introducing the "No More Presidential Wars Act." Congress
including 188 House Democrats instead sided with Trump to scrap this provision.

In light of the recent Iran news, I feel it’s time to post a thread on Evangelical Dominionism and their belief that war in the Middle East is necessary to bring the Rapture. Our government is run by “End Times Evangelicals.” #NoWarWithIran…
“His remarks are drawn straight from dominionist theology, which sees the world as belonging to God and his people. The goal of a dominionist is not diversity, dialogue, or healthy debate. It is a will-to-power ideology based on vanquishing God’s enemies”…

Press Release: Kucinich: Gen. Suleimani Killing ‘an Act of War’ Against Iran; Where's Congress?
Friday, January 3, 2020 - - Dennis J. Kucinich, former US Congressman (1997-2013) & two-time Democratic Presidential candidate, (2004, 2008) issued following statement upon the US drone strike at Baghdad airport that killed Iran’s top military leader, General Qassim Suleimani:
The extrajudicial-assassination of a top Iranian state official constitutes an illegal act of war against Iran, and risks a retaliatory response which imperils US officials and our soldiers world-wide.

2/8 Make no mistake. General Qassem Soleimani was an evil man responsible for the death of thousands, from employing sophisticated IEDs used against American troops to recent murdering of Iraqi protesters.

The Shadow Commander:…
3/8 None-the-less, this is an act of war, the assassination of a powerful foreign leader, the second most powerful man in Iran, at a time when Trump has just been impeached and is facing trial while ALSO up for re-election.

Feeling sick reading the news about Iran #NoWarWithIran
This assassination isn't just retaliation for what happened at the embassy in Iraq, it's a dramatic and disproportionate escalation that US military strategists *absolutely* know will force Iran to respond in ways that will escalate this conflict.
This attack on Iran was almost certainly also motivated by a desire to make Trump look strong as we head into this year's election, particularly since Sanders is rising rapidly on a domestic platform that plays well across the board, and which Trump has no compelling response to.

I'll post updates on the pending US-Saudi-Israeli strike against Iranian targets in this thread.
Yemeni Armed Forces Spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Sari has issued a warning to foreigners & company employees to leave certain areas in anticipation of potential strikes.
In other words, Donald Trump is waiting for the Khashoggi-murdering, Yemeni baby-genociding Crown Prince MBS (who is also the Saudi Defense Minister) to tell the American Commander in Chief what to do? Trump knows all this is BS. But if fits perfectly into Israel's Iran plans.

Hear me out. I remember when #Parkland happened, I went to pay my respects. I recall David Hogg, Emma Gonzalez, the other student activists being so aware that they had a limited media window to make an impact, to get their gun reform message out. Same thing now with the “camps.”
@MoveOn organized emergency responses around the country today. MOC are visiting “detention centers.” Some media outlets are getting access to photos. But we must remain on this- a year later it’s worse than ever for families separated, kept in squalor. #DontLookAway

NEWS: I’m joining @RepRoKhanna & 18 others introducing a bipartisan amendment to the NDAA stating as clearly as we can that only Congress has the constitutional authority to authorize our military to engage in hostilities against Iran. #NoWarWithIran
The lack of leadership & clarity from this @WhiteHouse is quite frankly a national security threat. I am deeply concerned that this president & his warhawk cabinet are going to escalate this situation out of control.
Democrats do not want war with Iran. Republicans do not want war with Iran. The American people do not want war with Iran. Enough is enough!

I'm at a loss as to what to do to help stop a potential war with Iran, but I want to share with you my story...

My family came to the US in 1984 in the middle of the Iran / Iraq war. I was 10 when we left a city called Bandar Abbas, right at the tip of Strait of Hormuz.

1/7 Image
I didn't put much thought into the regular sirens, followed by blackouts (power loss) that would happen regularly. Each time, my parents would take my sister and I to sit in door archways where the structure of the house was strongest to withstand a bomb blast.

2/7 Image
As a parent today, I can't imagine the psychological torture that a parent must feel trying to protect their kids from bombs and missiles. In 1984, my parents had enough. With little money, no language or know-how they gave up everything to start over in the United States.

I’ve observed Colorado @SenCoryGardner since his election. What I’ve seen has left me dismayed. Rather than building bipartisan bridges to get things done, Cory became a supine Trump yes-man. There are 1000s reasons he shouldn’t be re-elected. Here are 101: #VoteCoryOut #COsen
#1: Even though he was elected by the narrowest of margins in 2014 in a state that has since voted for Hillary in 2016 & a democratic state govt trifecta in 2018, Cory continues to act as if he has a mandate from the white nationalist alt-right. #VoteCoryOut #cosen
#2: Cory Gardner has consistently voted for the extreme Trump agenda. During the 2019-2020 Congress, he’s voted with Trump over 90% of the time. During Trump’s 1st two years, Cory’s voting record was over 95% in line with Trump. #VoteCoryOut #cosen
