Your Wed reminder that:

The ON pub live in a prov that:

-is more open than it has been since pre-pandemic since Oct 25
-is missing the main pt of how COVID-19 transmits and how to protect against it if still living with droplet protocols for a virus with aerosol transmission.
-has had around 30% of case counts in vulnerable unvaccinated children aged 5-11 for wks
-will take some time to fully 💉 those now eligible children aged 5-11
-vulnerable children aged 4 and < still don’t have a 💉 option and don’t have access to that level of protection
-doesn’t count or report #LongCovid #s, which fails to highlight this key risk of COVID infection: The potential long-term damage on the brains and multi-system functions of as many as 1 in 7

Your Sunday reminder that:

The global COVID-19 pandemic is not over.

Global examples have proven that we can’t vaccinate our way out of this pandemic.

Global examples have proven 💉are 1 layer of Swiss cheese for an effective pandemic response.

More layers=more protection.

PHAC talking aerosol transmission since Nov 12:…

responded Nov 15 with #COVIDisAirborne and a plan:…
ON gov, public health, municipalities, trustees, and schools boards are still using droplet protocols for an airborne virus.

Since Oct 25, all public spaces in ON are more open than since pre-pandemic.

Slept badly woke early spooked with the “only 6” headline. I don’t meditate but like to start each day in my garden with a cuppa & birdwatching. Mum loved birdwatching too & we shared little anecdotes & updates. Little reminders like this, that your loved one is gone…
is sad but still comforting. My youngest is whipping up cookies for my brothers birthday lunch tomorrow I’m browsing mums recipes for inspiration I’m the cook. Another sad/happy as mums birthday is a couple of days later & we usually got together for a posh meal out.
Not sure why I’m posting this really, just reflecting on grief and how as a nation we seem to have become numb to the daily figures, cruel & thoughtless for those who covid DOES pose a life/death threat. Just reaching out to anyone mourning, or whose life is forever changed

💡BEST. VIDEO. ALL. YEAR. Please share with friends how the mRNA vaccine works to fight the coronavirus.

📌NOTA BENE—The mRNA never interacts with your DNA 🧬. #vaccinate

(Special thanks to the Vaccine Makers Project @vaccinemakers of @ChildrensPhila). #COVID19
2) This Family Guy video explainer is more rudimentary but also very effective vaccine explainer. Thx @SethMacFarlane
3) The other BEST mRNA vaccine explainer video is this amazing epic one by @ScientistSwanda. Really good technical details that’s easy to understand.

The continual references to “with the benefit of hindsight” are simply not going to wash.

There are far too many of us who know EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED & tragically STILL IS.

@BorisJohnson @10DowningStreet @Conservatives @Jeremy_Hunt @SC_HealthSocial @Keir_Starmer
Mr Johnson may feel a degree of safety hidden away from scrutiny on holiday, but there are literally 1000s of us who’ve been begging for a pragmatic, intelligent & compassionate response to #COVID19UK - we will not go quietly!

@AppgCoronavirus @LaylaMoran @CarolineLucas
There’s only so much insensitive, offensive & ignorant bluster we will tolerate…HONESTY & ACCOUNTABILITY are needed now.

The buck stops at the doors of @10DowningStreet, or maybe a luxury villa in #Marbella🤔?

officials. We have not been able to count on our provincial government to end the pandemic. We need to ensure a plan is in place for the testing and vaccination of our children and youth to make schools and childcare centres as safe as possible, and to give families who
have been screaming for change since the very beginning the tools and mental health support they truly deserve. That is why it has been completely discouraging to see our province refusing to lay the groundwork to understand how COVID spreads in schools, how we can adapt our
approach to change daily health screens and add proper surveillance with rapid testing. Credible scientists, statisticians, epidemiologists, and physicians have been working exceedingly hard to understand COVID and all it’s variants and your mandate must include applying the

The Tory Party, as it has done throughout the pandemic, is continuing to use communication techniques to push an agenda:

The Great Reset — #BuildBackBetter

Here’s how they do it, & why we all need to raise awareness of these deceitful tactics👇🏻
If you want a flavour of what Britain’s leading political party is now pushing, you only have to analyse its packed conference schedule #CPC21 which (thankfully) ends today.

Over the 4 days, there were 340 conference sessions, panel debates, & themed stands
From the 340 sessions, almost a third (31.9%) had the following words in the title:

• Levelling up: 10.3%
• Build Back Better (or variation): 4.1%
• Green/climate change/environment: 5.8%
• Carbon/Net zero: 7%
• Covid/pandemic: 4.7%

These are today’s closing speeches…

Hi @jkenney,
I hear you don't want to put a hard lockdown in place because you don't want to punish the vaccinated. Can I let you in on a not-so-secret secret? The vaccinated are being punished either way. It's not really safe to be out an about. There is no room 1/
for car accidents, sports injuries, or illness in our hospitals. We are being told to stay home in the midst of a predictable 4th wave. Seriously, the only people not being punished under your leadership are the unvaccinated who you continue to whip into a freedom frenzy. 2/
So can we stop pretending that you have any consideration for the lives and livelihoods of the vaccinated. WE ALREADY DID the right thing. We keep doing the right things. This wave is all about the last 20% of the province who are all willfully unvaccinated 3/

Dear Elected and Public Health Officials,

I am an ON parent who is advocating for my child’s long term health and life. You are responsible for public health policies that keep us safe. I am alarmed by their current state of dangerous and systemic inadequacy.
I am expecting an imminent announcement that more public health measures are being put in place at every level immediately to protect our children in schools and daycares from this airborne virus.
You are telling us that schools and daycares are safe during this 4th wave of Delta while scientists, MDs, and national and global examples are telling us our children are in danger.

We need a multipronged approach to make schools and daycares safer NOW. More tools are available in the toolkit that are not being utilized at this moment and need to be implemented URGENTLY.

You are responsible for policies that keep us safe. Scientists, MDs, and global examples are telling us our children are in danger. We are in a pivotal crisis moment and need you to make all schools and daycares safer now.
What’s at stake:

The mass infection of a generation of children with a virus than can damage brain and multi-system function long term, potentially as many as 1 in 7.

This is our reality. Kindly radically accept it and act now.

I’m a deeply concerned ON parent demanding that you, as Public Servants, make schools safer now. You can and must. They are not safe enough.

And yet somehow I know 29 people--in my personal social/professional circle--who have had breakthrough infections. By this statistic, I guess I "probably" know 145000 people? I'm not even counting the cases I know on Twitter.

This is weird. And not helping end the pandemic.
We have a good way to gauge risk: vax effectiveness rates. They ain't 1 in 5000. Covid is widely circulating in the US, which means the "average American" will come into contact with the virus. The effectiveness against infection number is a way to assess likelihood of infection.
This "pandemic of the unvaccinated" insanity will kill us all.

#WearAMask. #CovidIsNotOver no matter how much you manipulate the stats.

I am a very concerned ONParent who wants their child safe in public school and daycare. Thank you for all of your efforts so far in trying to do that.
At the same time, the evidence of scientists, medical professionals and other schools and daycares opening globally tells me that they are not safe enough in their current state. Schools and daycares can and must be made much safer immediately and urgently.

The thread from April👇🏼 is especially relevant as 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿schools reopen w/ almost ZERO MITIGATIONs to ⬇️#coronavirus transmission/protect people.

Sept 1st 21 -“numbers” many English ppl have become immune to, a stark reminder of a @Conservatives brutal #LivingWithCovid “policy”.
Almost 36,000 new cases.
842 hospital admissions.
207 deaths.

That is roughly 37,000 individuals/families affected by #COVID, yesterday alone!
And potentially 3,600 more cases of #LongCovid to boot!

This is what #LivingWithCovid looks like folks!

@sajidjavid @JonAshworth
And by pure coincidence this is what a lazy, ignorant, selfish, cruel & greedy “strategy” against a global pandemic looks like too.

This is the purest form of #SurvivalOfTheFittest, a plan so grotesque I didn’t think it possible in modern Britain.

How many more is acceptable when we have a vaccine that - if enough people get it - could help to curb the spread of this pandemic? If I don’t make it, I send you all my love and strength for the fight ahead. 27/33 #Accountability
To my doctors I thank you from the bottom of my heart for you care. To the doctors, nurses, and first responders putting their lives at risk to care for Covid patients. Thank you. 28/33 #Covid_19

So why on earth are @jkenney @shandro @CMOH_Alberta staring at the disaster the #DeltaVariant is unleashing in the southern US and gamble that Alberta will be any different. We have a very low vaccine uptake as compared to the rest of Canada.
"Since Jul 28 announcement by @CMOH_Alberta, 1st doses have ⬇️ to 2500/day (0.06% of total pop). At this rate, it will take 4 months for current % of Albertans with at least 1 dose (64%) to rise only to the current Canadian average with at least 1 dose (71%)" @Dr_Jim_Kellner

IHME has updated its projections in the worse possible way for Oklahoma.
Its Estimated infections each day, trending up faster and projected to peak higher than we did in December. Universal Masking would reduce this impact, considerably.
@HealthyOklahoma #CovidIsNotOver
The MUCH worse news is that they are projecting that we will exceed our last peak on hospital bed usage. September is going to be VERY hard on our local healthcare workers if our local governing officials do not take drastic action RIGHT NOW.
Perhaps the most troubling aspect of this is that they are projecting that we are going to need 780 staffed ICU beds on September 14, 2021.
This means we will be about 200 ICU beds short of meeting that need. Several of our ICUs, in-state, are already full.

Have you noticed that Shandro and Dr. Hinshaw keep using the term “anxiety” in relation to their COVID reopening plan? Here is why this is inappropriate and stigmatizing: (1/8)
#COVID19AB #Anxiety #CovidIsNotOver
Anxiety is severe, persistent fear based on faulty cognitions or that is clearly in excess to the actual threat. Anxiety disorders are diagnosed based on the source of that fear (e.g. social situations) and degree of impairment (2/8)
With increasing mental health awareness driven by celebrities and professional athletes, like Ryan Reynolds and Naomi Osaka, more people have an awareness that Anxiety can be a chronic, often debilitating illness (3/8)
