As #coronavirus spreads, our fight for #reproductivejustice is as important as ever. Let us explain (thread):
@SisterSong defines #reproductivejustice as our “human right to maintain personal bodily autonomy, have children, not have children, and parent the children we have in safe and sustainable communities.”
All Above All’s work for RJ focuses on lifting bans on insurance abortion coverage. We believe everyone should be able to make their own decision about pregnancy & be able to access the health care they need, and that racism and classism make that reality impossible to achieve.

This is the 2nd "article" I've seen that said I left anti-abortion activist interviews on "the cutting room floor" because I didn't agree w/ them. This 1 is from @TuckerCarlson's site. (Maybe they're mad I said, "F**k Tucker Carlson." on #UnitedShades😄) Lemme clear this up.
Portions of both of them are online here. I even promoted that you could see them online DURING the #ReproductiveJustice #UnitedShades episode. I'm the 1 who decided to put them online. They could've been gone completely. Like most interviews we cut out. cnn.com/videos/tv/2019…
On #UnitedShades we always film more than we need. Cutting interviews out rarely means they aren't good. It means we don't have room, or something else resonated, or it felt redundant. The show is only 42 minutes long minus commercials. Every season I've pushed for extras online.

When I went to end my ability to reproduce, there were no protesters. No 1 tried to talk me out of it, talked about God or murder, or made me get my wife's approval. The surgery took 10 minutes & was covered by insurance. It should be that easy for women. cnn.com/interactive/20…
To be clear #ReproductiveJustice should cover women, the Trans community, non binary people, anyone with a uterus, and more. Let's make everyone's reproductive healthcare & services as easy, professional, & uneventful as my vasectomy. 😁😳 #AlabamaAbortionBan #ReproductiveRights Doctor cauterizing Kamau'd vas deferens while Kamau lays down.
Fellas, in solidarity w/ #ShoutYourAbortion, #ShoutYourVasectomy.

Hat tip to @smartstatistic @FundMSabortions for the idea! 😎 Kamau getting a vasectomy from Dr. Joel Piser and an unnamed nurse.

Hi all! We’ve gotten an increase in followers with everything going on in the fight for #reproductivejustice lately so we figured we would make a thread explaining who we are, the work that we do, why it’s all so important, and what YOU can do to help! #FundAbortionBuildPower
When folks say abortion funds aren’t new to abortion bans and anti-choice laws they’re right. CAF has been around for OVER 30 YEARS and we aren’t the only abortion fund either! Check out @AbortionFunds to see a list of our sister funds across the country that help to #fighttheban
For over 30 years, we have provided financial, logistical, and emotional support to folks needing assistance paying for an abortion. We boldly affirm a person's right to choose whether to parent or not and that right should not be determined bc of age, race, economic status, etc.

Fuck. Just saw a tweet reminding us that Alabama is making abortion a felony & felons can’t vote so soon enough massive amount of people, mostly poor & black women, will be labeled as felons & unable to vote. Further expansion of the prison industrial complex & the new Jim Crow.
We often think of the PIC as targeting men of color, particularly black men, but these new laws in states with large poor black populations are clearly intended to disenfranchise & legally enslave more black people.
THIS is why we need coalitional thinking. THIS is why we need a #reproductivejustice framework that sees prison abolition & abortion rights & voting laws as all interconnected. Reproductive justice & racial justice will always be inherent intertwined.

I'm taking a class this term in #ReproductiveJustice and I have got to say, it's really eye opening how narrowly we look at it as a society. Almost all of the focus is on abortion (currently the hot button issue in #Oregon) but there is so SO much more to it!
From my own personal experience as an advocate for #ReproRights this course has forced me to step back and come to terms with how "white" my views have been and how even when focusing on access to reproductive options, it's been a focus on white middle class women. 2/n
Even during times when the focus was on people of color, the solutions that were given used white cis women as the standard. When talking about poverty, it was the poverty of white cis women. Access? Same thing. People of color were often an afterthought. 3/n
