It’s Monday and while we might have all woken up today feeling like #ChrisRock after the #Oscars the markets lacked a punch last week. Both the #Sensex and #Nifty remained unchanged and saw a fall of less than 1%, to close at 57,632 pts & 17,173 pts respectively. (1/5)
#NiftyMetal and #Energy indices were the outliers and saw a jump of 5.1% and 2.1% respectively. Not terribly surprising considering wars, high commodity prices and global uncertainty. The S&P 500 and #NASDAQ had a good week and closed at 1.8% & 2.3% ↑ respectively. (2/5)
The #Nikkei was 4.9% ↑. It’s been making significant recoveries after falling to its lowest point in a year, on 9th March. In India, #Commodity prices are up, #Energy prices are up, and soon the RBI may not have any option but to take #InterestRates up. (3/5)

Fed hike rate by 0.25% since 2018.

What does that means to Indian stock market?

From the last 2 years i.e. after Covid-19, US government was giving loans at almost a 0% interst rates. That free money was diverted to country like India. And, market was booming.
But Now as already hinted by Fed that they will increase the interest rates 5-6 times in a year, FIIs are continuously pulling money from the Indian market since oct-21 and more than 1 lac crores of money being pulled out.
However, positive thing is, Indian stock market especially #nifty50 and #Sensex are looking resilient with the support of domestic investors. But how long they can support is big question.

WhatsApp forward but intriguing ;

The highest bull markets in any nation happen when the economy moves from 2 Trillion to 5 Trillion.

1) China took 5 years to go from 2 Trillion to 5 Trillion (2004-2009) – During this time the Hangsang went from 8500 to 32000 – A 4 times gain.
USA took 11 years to go from 2 Trillion to 5 Trillion (1977-1988) – Dow Jones between 1977 to 2000 went from 700 levels to 12000 – Gain of 15 times.
Japan took 8.5 years to go from 2 to 5 Trillion (1978-1986) – Japanese stock market between 1978-1991 went from 2000 to 37000.
So historically the mother of all bull markets in any nation starts between 2 Trillion to 5 Trillion!

4) India and the Indian economy is just getting started. The next 5 to 6 years are extremely important for the Indian economy.

About Rs 3.75 lakh crore is spent annually on weddings in India 😮 & the market for weddings is growing at the rate of 25% to 30% annually. (quite amazing)

25 lakh weddings are scheduled across the country b/w Nov and Dec, that will have a turnover of over Rs 3 lakh cr. (2/8)
In a country where the guest lists are long and hospitality is important, a huge amount is spent on wedding preparations, including customary expenses on gold jewellery.

A mind-numbing fact - A man spends 1/5th of his life’s earnings on marriage. 😲

I'm not in the business of picking tops and bottoms. I will never short an index like this.

However, I'm in the business of identifying extremes relative to past price actions.

#INDIA benchmarks are taking a parabolic shape with consecutive gap openings. #SENSEX #NIFTY
Question I'm trying to answer, what are those gaps at all-time highs???

From Richard Schabacker:
I think we can narrow it down to continuation & exhaustion gaps.
