One interesting story I read today in #theindianexpress .
As you can see in this article that on 2nd Jan 1972. A #PakArmy Cessna L-19 force landed near Maili and Sarangal villages in Hoshiarpur district. And on board was a dead body of Pakistani Major.

The young Bengali officer who belong to Pabna in Bangladesh wanted to defect to India but had not found any opportunity to do so during the 1971 War.

Operation commenced on 6 Sep 08, coinciding with Defence Day. Operation Sherdil as it unfolded turned out to be a large scale Battle for Bajaur.

Though the Operation was launched by 26 Brigade on 6 Sep, significance of 6 Aug 08 cannot be overlooked, as the day triggered a series of events which led to re-orientation of 26 Brigade towards Bajaur. Therefore in actual sense Operation Sherdil had begun on 6 Aug 08.

@joe_sameer goes with scenario #1 basis high variation in targeting error. But then 2 different types of weapons and platforms were employed and both are relatively unknown as far as efficacy is concerned. Neither is PAF known for air strikes.
