Some good news from Europe: Italy, Spain, and France are all starting to bend their coronavirus infection curves.

Germany, however, is not.

Meanwhile the U.S. curve actually bent *upward* today, but that's actually a good sign, since it means testing is starting to catch up to actual infections.

(My guesstimate is that if we keep increasing testing, the confirmed numbers should give a good rough indication of the true numbers in about a week? After that, we want our own curve to start bending down too!)

U.S. coronavirus testing continues to increase by more than 40% per day, compared to (probably) about 13% for the virus. That is good news.

Four or five more days of that kind of growth, and we'll be in business!
To put it in perspective, we're now at about a quarter of South Korean testing levels per capita. Up from less than 1% of Korean levels two weeks ago.

1/OK let's talk about Plaquenil.

Plaquenil is the brand name for hydroxychloroquine, a drug that may help fight coronavirus.

It is commonly used to fight malaria and rheumatoid arthritis.

2/You may have heard that "anti-malarial drugs" have been effective in preventing coronavirus patients from dying. That means chloroquine.

And this Chinese paper found that hydroxychloroquine was 3 times as effective as the typical form of chloroquine.

3/Researchers in France and the U.S. are also claiming good results with this drug.

Collective sacrifice. A concept rarely asked of us as a society, but one being asked of us at this moment in time, as we face off against #COVIDー19 . Our initial response to this request (viewed through the admittedly skewed prism of social media) is underwhelming to the least.
We’ve all been told of the critical importance of slowing the spread of this disease, lest the healthcare system become overwhelmed and many more persons die. #bendthecurve, etc. We’ve been told the most effective way to do so is to practice...
#SocialDistancing. And to that end, we’ve cancelled concerts, conferences and numerous other venues in which the disease can most easily spread. School districts are closing, businesses are closing and untold amounts of people are working from home.

The House Oversight Committee wants answers and they want them now on why broad testing for #coronavirus has yet to take place. Lawmakers will also scrutinize how tests are paid for, the role of insurers and more.

On March 3, the Cmte sent a letter to CDC director Robert Redfield requesting the following breakdown on coronavirus cases. ⬇️

There have been lingering questions over how CDC has reported its data and for a time, the agency yanked coronavirus test rate reports off of its website altogether. Yesterday, dir. Redfield vowed that CDC would restore reporting online.
