Storytime: How I switched my QA job to Product Design

more info in the thread ๐Ÿงต

#careerchange #uxdesign #uxui #productdesign #userexperience #digitaldesign #uidesign #Webdesign
1 year ago, I started gaining a lot of interest in Product Design (I was a QA back then). So, I began learning as much as I could about this domain because I wanted to shift my career within the same company.
I did courses, daily UI challenges, read articles on Medium, followed designers on Twitter, watched tons of YouTube videos, and worked on side projects so I can create a portfolio worth showing to Sortlist's Head of Product. I could not ask for a switch in Design empty-handed.

#ThreadAlert: Oftentimes, designers grapple with the question, how does the customer actually use this product? To do so, first designers need to learn โ€œHow to Use Journey Mapping for the Project?โ€

Let's quickly get through the entire journey mapping process!
#koruux #uxdesign
The user journey map is an overview of the key touchpoints and interactions. It describes the userโ€™s motivation, feelings, emotions, and goals stage-by-stage.

Here are the key components for Journey Mapping ๐Ÿ‘‡

โœ‹Have you talked to your users?โœ‹

User interviews have helped shape @typedreamHQ by:
- invalidating assumptions
- show new directions we never thought of!โ€ฆ

๐Ÿงต A thread: What to ask during user interviews ๐Ÿ‘‡
Question 1: What is the hardest part about doing the thing that you're trying to solve?

Example ๐Ÿ‘€:

The problem we're trying to solve:
Website building is hard/intimidating

Question to ask:
"What is the hardest part about building a website from your experience?"
Question 2: Tell me about the last time that you encountered this problem.

This avoids talking about hypotheticals by asking them to tell a story about a real experience that they had. You're also trying to find the context around this problem.

If your business has a digital product - website or app - and you still havenโ€™t invested in UX, you are missing out on a lot of opportunities.

1. Reduce cost down the line

With any new digital product, โ…“ of bugs identified are actual problems; most others are simply usability issues.

These issues can be avoided by relying on #UX tools like #prototyping and #usability testing.
2. Increase conversions

@tari has hit a home-run with Yats based on the appeal of universal aesthetics, ease of entry into the #NFT space for #creators, and a viable model of scarcity #economics. Lastly, they are good fun!

#Yats are modern hieroglyphs. Visual communication is ancient, and crosses all language barriers. The best Yats will capture human experience without being overly complex. Simplicty means mass appeal.
#NFTartist will find #Yats an easy medium to work in. The 4/5 string Yats are going to yield the best return for artists on a budget bc these can be created for $4-$8, and offer more room for expression.

Design Thinking ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ’ฌ

#DesignThinking? Nah!!
We call it โ€˜Outside the Boxโ€™ Thinking ๐Ÿ˜‰ But Why?

A Thread ๐Ÿงต
It is usually mentioned as โ€˜outside the boxโ€™ thinking, as designers try to develop new ways of thinking that donโ€™t abide by the dominant or additional common problem-solving ways.
Instead of getting stuck into the square process of thinking, studying & working, try out your new venture by implementing #Designthinking today itself.

I woke up to a great twitter thread from @QuinnyPig. As always, @QuinnyPig has a good twitter thread on mechanics and some technical details on what it means when @awscloud says it is will boot Parler off of #AWS

2 points: WHAT and HOW you build on #Cloud
Two points are most important for any business that builds on Cloud: (1) WHAT is built on Cloud and (2) HOW it is built on it?

There are some great points here and wanted to start a twitter thread on my own quoting @QuinnyPig.
Quoting @QuinnyPig (emphasis added)...
"Making WHAT you built on AWS's systems work elsewhere is super challenging."

This making it "elsewhere" whether another cloud or on-premise servers requires how the original technical architecture and solution(s) are built.

Hey everyone ๐Ÿ‘‹
Weโ€™re doing some testing of a new body font, which is more decorative than our current one.
Initial usability/legibility went well, but wasnโ€™t performed with Dyslexic or partially sighted participants. So weโ€™re looking to put that right.

Recruitment for Dyslexic participants is fine, but itโ€™s partially sighted / visually impaired that Iโ€™m looking for more insight on. Given itโ€™s font testing, it wont be screenreader specific or JAWS, anything like that, but maybe testing blurriness, zooming etc.

Does anyone have any insight into how best to run a session with visually impaired users, but when testing something so specific like a font (so readability), rather than general usability?

(#fakenews #propaganda #cambridgeanalytica #news #ecosystem #systemsthinking #gamification #userexperience)
As UX practitioner you all must have come across the word Dopamine that is a hormone. Addictive applications survive
on the way they influence our psychology to release dopamine in our body. The same UX gamification principles are used by News Broadcasters these days. Just because we know about psychology doesn't means we can save ourselves from it's effects. Just the way our brain is
fooled wearing VR headsets and there are many videos available online where people fall on their face. Similarly in gaming arcade mirror house puzzle we fail to identify mirror and mistaken it as open path only to hit the wall. Beware, don't be the subject, refrain

A thought strikes me browsing through the never ending online catalog of Apparel, that Apparel shopping is so much different than other type of shopping. Wouldn't it be great to swipe right & left like Tinder to be selective for first few minutes that will filter through the
catalog incrementally (ai) in real time. In the real world this is called window shopping!
Bombarding with XXXX numbers of items and tons of filters in the catalog is a complete disgrace to Hick's Law.

"Abundance" in Design Thinking & Strategy adds a new dimension to UX. Design Thinking has Divergent & Convergent sequences. Including "#Abundance" in the scenario would help to explore a new dimension altogether. Here follow two examples.
A medical device has an alarm. The alarm
beeps in 3 levels of priority. The frequency of the number of beeps increases with the priority of the alarm. Assume it works fine & passes all usability tests with one device. Now Include "Abundance" and think of 20 devices kept in a dormitory room. The difficulty of attention
& call to action multiply in combination.
An email application to read and view the list of emails. Deleting a few 100 emails is fine. Include "Abundance" and think of Deleting a few million emails.
"Abundance" can also be included for processes. Suppose a process is designed
