1/ “When we are young, we hear stories of soldiers sacrificing their lives for the countries and working at the forefront. So when a crisis like this came, I knew I had to be among the ones serving the patients,” begins Dr Divya Singh.
2/ A few months ago, Dr Singh, who is an MS in General Surgery, had moved to Djibouti, Africa, along with her husband who works with the Indian Foreign Services.

But on hearing about the COVID-19 pandemic, she decided to return to India anticipating an increased need for doctors
3/ “I returned to India in March when the number of positive cases was just about under 400. Within a week, I received a request for help from a volunteer group based in Mumbai. They required medical professionals to help with the pandemic surveillance Worli and Dharavi slums."

Gove says ‘schools are safe!’- UK Govt advice “if child develops #COVID19 symptoms at school “they must be sent home...If a child is awaiting collection, they should be moved, if possible, to a room where they can be isolated behind a closed door-Thread👇🏽
..depending on age of child & with appropriate adult supervision if required. Ideally, a window should be opened for ventilation. If it is not possible to isolate them, move them to an area which is at least 2 metres away from other people🙈gov.uk/government/pub…
If they need to go to the bathroom while waiting to be collected, they should use a separate bathroom if possible. The bathroom should be cleaned & disinfected using standard cleaning products before being used by anyone else.

In the last 3 days, I’ve had to walk in the shoes of the #FrontLineHeroes

And I must confess that wearing the PPE alone for just very few hours was super uncomfortable.

The struggles of the frontline workers is real o! Let me share with you some of the harsh realities

🧵
Asides from dealing with exhaustion from increased work load, the frontline workers also experience:

➡️ Adverse skin problems resulting from wearing the PPE— face masks, goggles, face shields, gloves for long hours— skin problems like Acne, irritation, infection...
And, in extreme cases, the development of ulcers, like decubitus ulcers on the skin.

➡️ Psychological injury- such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other similar conditions as a result of dealing with #COVID-19.

➡️ Contracting the Virus and worse - Death 💀

Undoubtedly we have done well to bend the #Covid Epidemic Curve.
Provided no surges/surprises we on track to seriously chart a Safe & Middle of the Road Exit Strategy
-not too rapid; invites another #COVID19 wave
-not too slow, will hurt the battered economy @DrDzul @boosulyn
The first crucial element of a COVID-19 exit strategy is massive testing.
This was reaffirmed by WHO when it stated:
a. That transmission must be controlled
b. Early case-finding, testing, isolating … is essential for stopping transmission.
The EU research group:The availability of large-scale testing…is a precondition for lifting social distancing measures in the future m.facebook.com/mccc.my/

**Thread of massive RANT**
As a lot of you know I am making and posting fabric masks (at my own expense) for as many people as I can who need them. I have reached out to #FrontLineHeroes , People in DP and the sick and elderly in my community and beyond. People's generosity 1/
has been astounding with parcels and bags of elastic, cotton and thread arriving to help me. Last week I was in a queue and a 'Lady' (60's), overheard a mate asking me how it was going, turned to me and asked if she could get one. I said of course and we exchanged numbers. 2/
I then mentioned I only lived 5 mins away if she wanted to collect it. So she did. I went outside with the mask. She asked how much? I said No Charge. She was looking in the window where I have set up my work table as she spotted the Huskies. Also spotted all the masks. . 3/

I'm a #LatinX physician, taking care of #LatinX patients with #COVID19.

I've been so surprised at how people are surprised by data showing #COVID19 is disproportionately affecting marginalized communities that till now I didn't know how to respond.

Some thoughts:

1/
2/The implications of these #disparities run far deeper than simple differences in rates of morbidity and mortality. I applaud all of those shedding light on these #inequities, but we need action, and we need it now. @valstonemd @drlouiseivers #COVID19 #SDOH
3/A majority of our #EssentialWorkers, our #FrontLineHeroes, come from minority communities; these are the individuals putting themselves at risk to do the invisible work without which our society would collapse. @JoiaMukherjee #COVID19
