I just heard a tinnitus while communicating telepathically with SRJ and heard a highpitched tinnitus in my left wear and felt a resultant slight loss of hearing and dullness plus weakness and debility.

I had just left a comment and given the link to my Instagram page about
20 minutes.

I am writing this as I am about to leave my apartment.

OK, why am I quote-tweeting myself and resurrecting PHE exercises that were conveniently lost/ignored/forgotten and so never made it to #Nervtag or #SAGE?
Well, frankly I'm pretty sick of the ridiculously polarising situation in the UK, which is largely due, imho, to Government.
Everything to do with the pandemic (& Brexit, Climate etc., but I'll "stay in my lane"😜) feels like this. I and my colleagues (but I am speaking for myself here) are often called such delightful things as "Lockdown Zealots" or some such, certain papers have the nerve to say I
have a "leftist" view of science...well, maybe I do if it means I don't like the thought of disadvantaged groups suffering, fine. I digress...
Equally, there are views from the opposite standpoint, and deliberate anti-vax aside, this is to be debated and reasoned, not just a

🧵SCIENTISTS ADMIT MASS COVID-19 TESTING ARGUMENT RESTS ON A “HYPOTHESIS”🦠💥

With their influence waning, @IndependentSage has rebuked Gov plans to end “free” COVID-19 tests— urging the “immediate” publication of scientific evidence.

So, what is their own evidence? Read more👇🏻
So, for background, who exactly are Independent Sage?

They say they are a “group of scientists who are working together to provide independent scientific advice to the UK government and public on how to minimise deaths and support Britain’s recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.”
Prominent members include:
•Prof Susan Michie
•Prof Christina Pagel
•Prof Gabriel Scally
•Dr Zubaida Haque
•Dr Kit Yates

All of whom have been plastered over our television screens, airwaves, & newspapers since the pandemic began.

It’s not the first time I’ve featured them

The ONLY WAY to make any sense of the changes to isolation policy, in combination w/ the removal of virtually all mitigations across 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿society, is that the @PrimeMinister @sajidjavid & @10DowningStreet ACTIVELY WANT ppl to catch AND spread #coronavirus.

@dgurdasani1 @TimesRadio
They WANT “US” to “GO NOW” rather than later in the Autumn/winter….that’s YOU & ME!

No matter how many ppl are doubly vaccinated, COMPLETELY UNMITIGATED TRANSMISSION/SPREAD will inevitably effect ppl in all age groups.
GOING NOW may sound BIG & BRAVE to those that haven’t followed the pandemic closely, but for anyone w/ even the slightest understanding of what’s really going on, it equates to pouring several large cans of petrol onto the UK #COVID 🔥, whilst simultaneously turning the 💦 off!

Jeremy Farrar recounts: Even if the [SAGE] minutes were hazy, I believe that Patrick [Vallance] and Chris [Whitty] took a clear message into Number 10 after that Friday 13 March SAGE meeting: measures had to start immediately.
Meanwhile, my email to Patrick and Chris on Saturday 14 March 2020 tried to capture very explicitly what was hampering the UK’s ability to respond.

First, the state of public health at the time a country enters a crisis is crucial.

So, a 2005 blueprint to fight an #airborne #virus arriving in Britain was lost, filed away in Whitehall, and apparently never used.

Now uncovered, its recommendations included limiting travel and stopping ‘super-spreader’ events - lessons not learned.

independent.co.uk/news/health/co…
The @Independent reports that, 'One senior medical adviser who served in Downing Street throughout the last decade said they were “totally surprised” to learn of the blueprint, despite having worked in emergency health planning and pandemic preparedness'.

independent.co.uk/news/health/co…
The @Independent reports that 'the 2005 plan put together by the #DoH, warns of spread via “finer aerosols of infectious respiratory secretions, which stay in the air longer than droplets”, meaning it can be passed from one person to another through the nose, mouth or even eyes.'

A thread. @wellcometrust kindly funded me for 13 yrs on MH projects. It’s also funded decades of research on social & economic determinants of health, long-term impacts of poverty, unemployment, stress, loneliness & isolation. I’m aghast re the lack of focus on these things 1/
What about the health impact of millions of job losses; debt of over £2 trillion & all the other physical and mental health impacts of lockdown? As professionals, clinicians, academics and philanthropic funders, are we really having a full and fair debate? 2/
Those of us working in the community are baffled by the lack of academic, scientific & governmental focus on the physical & mental health impacts of bankruptcy, poverty, despair, withdrawal of MH & disability services, domestic violence & safeguarding 3/

1/12 How anyone who claims to care about children can read this thread & look at these figures, & still think “Oh yes, this was a good time to remove 😷s from secondary schools!”

What madness is it that has lead to pupils, staff & families being so unprotected from #COVID19?
2/ #Bolton is just 1 town, every day this week more places have found ⬆️cases of the #IndianVariant.

A local school has an outbreak, a whole yr group’s been sent home. A min of 10 children have tested +ve, so assuming they all have a mild infection, ONE could get #LongCovid.
3/ Has the #PrimeMinister decided that this is acceptable COLLATERAL DAMAGE?

Is this what the #antimask anti-scientific groups like #UsForThem, #HartGroup & the #CRG want for the children of this country?
1000s of innocent children w/ long term symptoms we don’t yet understand? Image

Good afternoon #PrimeMinister,
Reading the @Telegraph article below has caused me significant angst. As a healthcare professional who has seen just what #COVID19 can do, I am struggling to understand the rationale behind this decision.
🧵
@BorisJohnson
telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/…
Just as we are unlocking cautiously you want to risk the lives of more individuals by removing one of the few mitigations in secondary schools?
We know that #COVIDisAirborne & that we have several #VariantsOfConcern here already.
Have you seen this chart #PrimeMinister?
V few <40s will be vaccinated by May 17th & while their individual risk of serious disease or dying is low, their risk of #LongCovid is MODERATE!
Many parents & teaching staff are <40.
The numbers of #NHS & teaching staff w/ it already are horrendous. Why put more ppl at risk?

My thoughts on the latest Johnson comments. First up - it looks highly likely that Johnson had to be persuaded ‘big time’ to enter a 2nd lockdown. This is for a number of reasons, and we’ll come back to these, but suffice it to say his lack of appetite to lockdown is clear. 1/n.
Reports of Johnson’s reluctance to lockdown spread from the disreputable (yesterday’s Daily Mail headline) to vastly more reputable news sources. @thetimes et al, do not publish such headlines without a strong source in the top-left. So we can be quite sure of their voracity. 2/n
But how believable are the stories? Well let’s examine the evidence. Has Johnson showed reluctance to lockdown before? He absolutely has. The ‘take it on the chin’ comments from as late as Feb 20 show this in spades. But such a sentiment is almost excusable. 3/n

2) Wondering how this particular bit of advice ⬇️ will play out in schools & early years settings after #Easter?

Crowded poorly ventilated classrooms w/ up to 30 kids from different households are the very essence of HIGH RISK spaces. Dining rooms/PE halls could even be worse!
3) If I’ve understood it correctly anywhere in the RED AREAS needs extra attention?

INDOORS ✅
HIGH OCCUPANCY ✅
SILENT, SPEAKING, SHOUTING, SINGING, PHYSICAL EXERTION ✅
POORLY VENTILATED ✅

1) Cases in schools have ⬆️ since schools fully opened on 8th Mar.
Everyone knew they would.
#SAGE predicted it.
UK schools remain NON #CovidSecure & 1000s of kids are isolating AGAIN.
Some clinicians are turning a blind eye & have joined the #antimask campaign.
#COVIDisAirborne - #MasksSaveLives & #VentilationMatters.
Smaller classes sizes & using #blendedlearning would protect individuals AND ⬇️disruption.
Advice on how to #MakeSchoolsSafe is abundant & accessible.
Why is it being consistently ignored by @educationgovuk? ImageImageImage
The Easter holidays give us some time & space to act, but while funding & political will are lacking, the school community remains very exposed to an #airborne🦠 that can cause severe illness, death & long term morbidity.

IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO IMPROVE MITIGATIONS & SAVE LIVES!

One of the most bizarre & troubling bits of the #ReopeningSchools saga is that @educationgovuk & @BorisJohnson have ignored every single plea from teachers, early years staff, pupils & their families to #MakeSchoolsSafe & wasted all the months they have had to do so. 1/14 🧵
2)They’ve turned their backs on plentiful advice from #SAGE, @IndependentSage & @NEU.
Even @CMO_England has made his reservations as clear as he can from a rather difficult position.
But they’ve put their collective fingers in their ears & metaphorically said “La La La La”!
3) @GavinWilliamson & @halfon4harlowMP CLAIM the motivation for a speedy full opening of all school & early years facilities is the WELFARE OF CHILDREN!
They repeatedly cite educational, emotional, social & psychological needs.

This is plea to all Headteachers regarding the imminent full opening of UK schools.

If we remove from the debate HOW MUCH children transmit/spread #coronavirus WITHIN schools, we all accept that they do spread it to a greater or lesser degree.
Fact!
1/8🧵
Children do not exist in isolation!
Every day they mix with their families & friends & during the school day they mix with many teachers & staff.
Fact!

So the word BUBBLE in the school context is UTTER NONSENSE! 2/
The government & #DfE have rejected virtually every mitigation proposed by #SAGE, @IndependentSage & @neu & we’re told the @CMO_England is v uneasy about a BIG BANG reopening.

You don’t have to be a scientist or medic to understand this re risk in various settings👇🏼.
