Unknown assailants on January 13 killed veteran journalist Carlos Domínguez Rodríguez (77) while he was driving through the city of Nuevo Laredo in Mexico’s Tamaulipas state near the Texas border.

Jefferson Pureza Lopes was assassinated on the night of January 17 in #Brazil’s Goiás state, located southwest of Brasilia.

Lopes was at his home in Edealina, a town of around 4,000 people, when 2 men with motorcycles shot him dead as he was watching TV.

In eastern Ghouta, Syria, Abdul Rahman Ismael Yassin, a reporter for the pro-opposition Hammouriyeh Media Office, died from injuries sustained in an airstrike on February 20.

Yassin has been working as a journalist since 2011 when the conflict began.

On Feb 25, Slovak investigative journalist Ján Kuciak (27) and his fiancée were found shot dead in their house in Velká Mača. He was the second journalist to be murdered in the EU in 5 months.

Police reportedly found ammunition arranged around the bodies.

Photojournalist Bashar al-Attar died from injuries sustained in an airstrike on March 12 in eastern Ghouta, outside of Damascus, Syria.

Al-Attar was hit by shrapnel while he was helping civilians wounded in an earlier airstrike that he had been covering.

Leobardo Vázquez Atzin was murdered on the evening of Mar 21 in a restaurant that he owned in Gutiérrez Zamora, #Mexico.

The journalist, who covered corruption, received threats to stop writing about the mayor.

Journalist Obeida abu Omar was killed in an airstrike on March 21 in the eastern Ghouta area of #Syria.

Abu Omar was covering Russian airstrikes from his home in the town of Ein Tirma when a missile hit the house, according to one of his colleagues.

Journalist Navin Nischal and freelancer Vijay Singh were riding Nischal's motorbike on the Arrah-Sasaram highway, in India's Bihar state, on the evening of March 25, when an SUV hit them from behind and ran them over.

Sandeep Sharma, a TV reporter in India's Madhya Pradesh state, was murdered on Mar 26.
