The 10th #Ebola outbreak in #DRC 🇨🇩 is OVER!

WHO congratulates all those involved in this tough and often dangerous work to end the almost 2-year long outbreak.

Declared in North Kivu, #DRC on 1 August 2018, this #Ebola outbreak was the second largest in the world, occuring in an active conflict zone.

There were 3470 cases, 2287 deaths and 1171  survivors.

The 10th #Ebola outbreak in #DRC is over, but the response is not.

Over 1170 people who were infected & survived still need support. Surveillance and response systems must remain in place to respond to potential flare-ups in the coming months.

@DrTedros "I’d like to start today by talking not about #COVID19, but about #Syria.
Since the 1st of December, dozens of health facilities have suspended services in the Idleb & Aleppo areas. Out of nearly 550 health facilities in northwest Syria, only about half are operational"-@DrTedros
@DrTedros "2 attacks on health facilities took place yesterday afternoon, on 2 separate hospitals in Aleppo. Luckily, there were no casualties.

If Houthis didn't try to shamelessly capitalize on every tragedy the coalition inflicts, it would be a lot easier to get the world/the west to take these crimes seriously. Here are some of the ways the Houthis' exploitation of civilian casualties harms the Yemeni people:
When you turn dead children into propaganda, you put the reality of their deaths up for debate. Houthis have no credibility, therefore these victims lose credibility. You rob their deaths of the recognition they are due by associating them with you.
This kind of propaganda makes it possible for the coalition to say that civcas reports are false, and possible for policymakers in the US and UK to believe the coalition (or at least pretend to).
