Latest Poll: 51.5% say they have ZERO trust in HK Police. More than half for the first time. Over 70% say they don’t trust the police. We are now running a gigantic social experience of “violence without legitimacy in a global city”. #StandwithHK
After a month of vandalism and firebombs, figures on protest violence surprisingly did not change much (within margin of error). Possible explanation: ppl are so upset with police brutality that the increased protest violence is acceptable. #StandwithHK
Are people ok with vigilantism? Apparently yes. Ppl have no trust in the police now, so it is ok to resolve things themselves. But only to put ppl under control, though. #StandwithHK

⚠️ The “#YellowObject” ⚠️

From #Rawanda, we know dehumanization is used to incite #genocide.

RTLM radio incited Hutus vs. Tutsi minority, calling Tutsis “inyenzi,” or “cockroaches.”

Now #HKPolice call #HongKong #HKprotesters “objects.”

h/t @lihkg_forum
… Even if the “#YellowObject” in question is wearing a yellow vest, for a white guy to call a #HongKong protestor a “yellow object” is — at best — nothing short of accidental racism.

It’s crazy that #HKPolice just watch as their Superintendent spews dehumanizing hate speech…
#Hitler’s Nazis used the term “Untermensch” — “subhuman” — to describe Jews, Roma, Slavic people, Africans, #LGBT people, etc.

They borrowed this epithet from Ku Klux Klan member Lothrop Stoddard.

#YellowObject” only reinforces the perception of #HKPolice as “#ChiNazi.”

To people all around the world,

We, Hongkongers just experienced a terrorist attack planned and executed by our Hong Kong Police Force. At about 10pm today, our police force rushed into our...
...railway system in Prince Edward station, got in to the carriage and indifferently beat up all the people in it regardless they are protesters or simply passengers. They ignored the weapon guidelines and fired tear gas indoor in the carriage which is in fact lethal. Also, they..
..beat up innocent people causing them seriously wounded. Some passengers kneeled before them asking them to stop but the response they got were beaten ever harder. Meanwhile, the police haven’t arrested the passengers after they got beaten up, showing that the only purpose of...

A few things which we felt we need to reiterate about #HongKongProtests:
1. HK is not fighting for independence
2. The 5 core demands does NOT include HK independence. If anything it safeguards the 1C2S status quo
3. @joshuawongcf doesn't "lead" the protests. Netizens do.
4. When the 1st marches/dissent against the bill came, Joshua wasn't even freed yet. Most demonstrators couldn't care less what he thinks.
6. @lihkg_forum is instrumental early on, in particular the G20 ads around the world. They just got nominated in Nikkei Advertising Awards.
Alright that should've been #5.
6. Protesters have been buying their own gear out of pocket. Many HK citizens privately pooled money to buy masks for gears. These are mostly done as guerilla efforts, in groups of 3,4 out on the streets distributing. Their courage isn't any less.

America’s greatest information weapon may be its meme warriors. I think we need more memes critical of #China’s Communist Party. It’s only right that we mock, ridicule, castigate, lampoon, pillory, & parody this awful, IP-stealing, trade-cheating, #HumanRights violating-regime.
… I asked for memes, & the great people of #HongKong & their allies (follow em!) delivered. Here’s the first one I wanted to share (technically a cartoon, but a good one).

Hong Kong is the spark that could ignite the brushfires of freedom in #China. 🔥

… the next #ChinaMeme is sweet as 🍯.

#XiJinping — the Butcher of #Beijing — is famously insecure about being a doppelgänger for Winnie the Pooh. #China’s #GreatFirewall bans all images of the Pooh bear as subversive (so get creative, meme warriors!).

#StandWithHK rally in Chater Garden. Maybe first time in over 2 months when a major #AntiELAB rally here failed to pack the whole garden 40 minutes before its opening. The rally appeals to UK and US to mount pressure on China and support Hong Kong.
