A) NO , The bill merely mandates any #Muslim migrant to spend 11 yrs resident in #India before applying for citizenship.

Q) Does #CitizenAmendmentBill discriminate against #Muslims who are citizens of #India or remove any privilege of citizenship they hold?
A) No, the #CABBill makes no comment on the citizenship of existing #Muslim citizens.

Q) Why does the bill disallow #Muslim migrants from #Pakistan #Afghanistan & #Bangladesh from it's ambit.
A) The Bill is meant to provide a safety valve for minorities in adjoining nations who do not wish to live under a #Islamic regime. #Muslims are a majority in these nations.

Q) Will this lead to the #NorthEast getting flooded by #bangladeshi #Hindu migrants?
A) Not likely
1) The NE has been protected via Inner line permits & Hill councils system .
2) Higher per capita income in #Bangladesh will discourage migration.

Q) Who does this bill cover?
A) This bill covers the beleaguered minorities in #Islamic countries bordering #India . This bill does not cover migration from secular nations like #Nepal or #SriLanka .

Q) Why does #India need to look out for #Hindus #Sikhs #Buddhists & #Jains from adjoining nations?
A) #India is the historical homeland of these Faiths, the holy places of all these four Faiths lie in #India & the history of these four religions is interwoven into the nation .
