A thread on the #hijab controversy.

1. Until now, I hadn't commented on #Karnataka #hijab row. Conscious tht d issue was abt politics, neither religion nor young girls' right to wear hijab to college, I didn't have clarity of my position. Now I have. But first, a few questions
2. Has there been any incident in any part of India where #Muslim men wanted to attend classes in a particular dress, say a skullcap? Why is the responsibility of upholding religious identity only Muslim women's? Who is telling these women tht their identity & d right to fight
3. For tht identity more imp than their future? Why is no one finding it disturbing tht fathers of some girls r saying tht if college doesn't relent, they will not allow their girls to study further. Let their future b ruined? Y r parents not moved by d sight of desperate girls?

#Hindu Funerary Monuments:
Ordinary Hindus are cremated after their #death except for the saints. According to religious traditions, they are buried, and their shrines are called #Samadhi. The term Samadhi in #Hinduism also refers to an elevated state of mental awareness. 1/ Pic - Rajesh Avhad
Death by Samadhi usually involves inhumation rather than cremation on a pyre. However, samadhi memorials may or may not contain the remains of the deceased. This ritual occurs in 3 stages- taking Samadhi, the burial of the body, and site construction. 2/
The belief is that body of a saint or guru should be preserved as a symbol of sacred power. In this context, the #Hindu memorial is similar to the #Buddhist stupa, where relics of Buddhist teachers are buried and worshipped. 3/

The 2k kids are very different. My elder son who is in 8 (#CBSE) had to submit an assignment for the Social Sciences subject yesterday (which was the deadline) and was quite restless about the same. This is not the case normally as he is quite self reliant and organized.(1/8)
Ram and I stepped in to help him. The assignment demanded students to put up a picture which depicts #secularism, write a few lines about (glorifying) #secularism and further write about three major religions of India.(2/8)
My son exclaimed us saying it was you people who enlightened me about what is happening in our country in the name of #secularism and I have also read and understood about it. If I do an assignment glorifying something which I don't believe in just for the sake of marks, (3/8)

In a large and diverse country like #India, which was divided into several parts right from the first invasion in the 8th century to the very infamous year of 1947. Over several centuries, the Civilizational Bharat has shrunk to the Geo-political India we know today.
A temple for Agni Dev in Azerbaijan was found with #Sanskrit Shlokas written on its walls, an ancient Vishnu Idol was found in an excavation in Russia, and every other thing that we already know about Indonesia or Cambodia.
In fact, in the 1300s BCE, the emperor of present-day Turkey was named "Dashratha". One can go on citing numerous historical records indicating the Civilizational #Bharat.

Since the coming of #Islam to #Kashmir, since 1389 there have been 7 recorded exoduses of Kashmiri #Hindus and #Sikhs due to genocide and persecution at the hands of radical Islam.
The first exodus OF #Hindus from #Kashmir (AD 1389-1413) was under the Shah Mir Dynasty. Tourists may not notice that the iconic Dal Lake has a mass grave of Kashmiri Hindus known as "Bhatt Mazar" or "grave of Brahmins".

They boasted that they killed 900 Hindus daily for refusing to convert to Islam.
