Punjab Transit Authority officials on Tuesday briefed the chief minister, Usman Buzdar, about the progress on the scheme to launch electric buses in major cities of the province. #dailyscooptv #ecofriendly #ElectricVehicles #busses #pakistan #lahore #usmanbuzdar #punjab
Last month, the Punjab government released Rs3.4 billion for the procurement of 200 eco-friendly electric buses.

The scheme would not only help mitigate the effects of environmental pollution but would also make the public transport sector more cost-efficient.
The meeting also discussed the proposals regarding the dispatch of the new vehicle framework in various urban areas as well as the fixing of orange line metro charge.

1- Heavy regulations of oil & gas in favor of green energy will only result in greenwashing oil & gas. So many ways to legally greenwash any fossil fuel.

All of this lead to one result: Carbon neutrality will be the mother of all ENRONS: an unprecedented accounting fraud
2- So, what I can do to make my oil or LNG green? There are so many ways... including enriching Elon Musk and Tesla stockholders! Why? Because some corrupt politicians created laws that make it work that way. Anyway, Auto companies are now paying $Tesla to greenwash their cars!
3- People are going to go crazy when they realize what companies can claim in their carbon neutrality accounting systems! Hey, my stores have had skylights since they were built 40 years ago. I have been green all along but I just learned about it!

Here we are ! Finally, after 18 months of big talks and long-term objectives about #EUGreenDeal, @EU_Commission releases its mammoth package #FitFor55 #FF55.
Here is my key take-aways: the good, the bad, the ugly. #Thread 👇
Good 1: that’s a massive policy push to transform #EUGreenDeal promises into concrete actions to change our ways of life. @FransTimmermans recognises this will be “bloody hard”, but righly underlines that our future depends on it.
Good 2: Creation of the Social Climate Fund that we @DelorsInstitute have been calling for years. This Fund should start as of 2025 with EU budget, and could invest up to 70Bn€ from 2025 to 2032 to finance national plans to ensure social justice in the transition. #EnergyPoverty

Econ 101:
1- When oil prices rose to $147 in 2008, and natural gas prices exceeded $14, #renewable energy did not expand much. Why? (same 2011-14 for oil)
Higher oil and natural gas prices are God's gift to democrats and environmentalists then. What happened? #oil #OOTT
2- Similarly, as governments and environmentalists pushed renewable energy and #ElectricVehicles forward, prices of several metals went up substantially and continued to increase. Was this a surprise? Probably to them.

But will this cost increase limit their growth?
3- We already know for sure that shortages of computer chips are delaying the production of all kinds of cars, including #ElectricVehicles.
- The chip shortage will hit electric trucks hard since they have already started the production & many were expected to come online soon.

#Climate needs #electrification AND #hydrogen.
Both compete for #renewableelectricity, policy and infrastructure support. Policy makers have to take decisions, secure expectations, avoid further fossil lock-in
Our paper offers guidance.

#efuels(right) replace fossils without the end-use transformation required by (direct) #electrification(left)
This promises to make combustion technologies and fossil infrastructure part of the climate solution;
yet, shifting the burden to the supply side has limitations…
#Efuels require 2 – 14 times more (renewable) electricity than a direct #electrification (e.g. electric cars are five times more efficient)
Remember, (growing) renewable power capacity is far from fully meeting only today’s electricity demand.
(no regret: #renewableexpansion)

1- President Biden & his climate advisors need to come down to earth before gravity brings them down. 2022 is just around the corner!
I studied the unintended consequences of govt regulations & policies long enough to conclude that what we heard today was a disaster in the making
2- The history of the oil industry is full of lessons: Democrats proposed the Oil Windfall Profit Tax in the 1970s & President Carter signed it into law in Apr 1980. The govt appropriated the money it thought it would collect, but oil prices collapsed. No windfall profit to tax!
3- Taxing wealth or increasing taxes on capital gains to finance infrastructure and climate change agenda will force foreign investors out of US markets. US investors will move their money overseas. Some might even move out of the US and get another nationality.

"It remains to be seen if we'll rise to this challenge. I'm optimistic, but there's so much more we need to do. We're good at developing new technologies...are we as good at the society-scale change we need?"

@MIT @voxdotcom "The way we can get larger projects to improve more quickly is #standardization. We need to understand the parts that are holding projects back, where the inefficiencies come in. I use a broad definition of #technology because these #inefficiencies crop up in different ways."

This figure illustrates a really key point about #ElectricVehicles - cost parity is not the end of the road. They are on track to be *cheaper* to buy than gasoline vehicles (not to mention cheaper to drive and maintain).

Source: @TheICCT….
This is an example of how decarbonization is worth doing with or without climate change. We could be spending less on cars in a decarbonized future than if we don't decarbonize. More on that below.
Not everyone may agree with ICCT's projections. I am not sure I fully agree either. But the general point remains: EVs vs gasoline vehicles is the story of a continuously improving technology vs. one that (while improving) is not poised to be much cheaper than it is now.

#India needs Elon Musk’s @Tesla as well as local electric cars to compete — here’s what Finance Minister’s #Budget2021 may do

By - @navdeepyadav321… Image
2021 is expected to be the year @elonmusk brings the first @Tesla Model-3 to #India, 14 years after its first launch in the US. This is likely to intensify the race in the #ElectricVehicles space among the Indian car makers like Mahindra and Mahindra, Tata Motors and Maruti.
#India has been trying to get its strategy to push #ElectricVehicles at least since the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles (FAME) 2015 but only with limited success.

Judges Farm Tesla Semi Roadmap:

Fall 2020: Install 100kw grid-connected solar on 1/3 acre of marginal land. System cost including install: $200,000.

1) 26% Federal tax credit, so $52,000 off our 2020 tax bill.
2) Federal Dept. of Agriculture REAP grant: 25% of cost of system, so a check for $50,000 once system is up and running.
3) Eversource ZREC (Renewable Energy Credit) program. Eversource (our CT power company) to pay us $100 per 1000 kWh (1 REC) generated per yr *for 15 yrs*
System will generate 134,000 kWh per year, so a total benefit of $201,000 over the course of 15 years.
Total Incentives: $303,000. We’ll actually be *making* 2.8% annual ‘return’ on the system over the 15 years. AND, we’ll also eliminate our $700/mo. current electric bill.

1-5 Every additional EV in the 2030s & 2040s will have less impact on oil demand than earlier ones according to long term outlooks by X, Y, & Z!

They assume massive improvement in ICE fuel economy.

#Oil #OOTT
2-5 That means, replacing an ICE vehicle with an EV will cause only small reduction in oil demand.

Hence, the impact of #ElectricVehicles on global oil demand declines with time.

Shocked yet? wait, there is more!
3-5 If fuel economy is going to improve that much (emissions ⬇️⬇️), why do we need the expensive #ElectricVehicles ?

For the record, according to these Oil Outlooks, the decline in oil demand due to improvement fuel economy is three times the decline in oil demand due to EVs!
